TBH Volvo is spending all its money on moving XC90s right now. If you don’t want a 3-row then look at the Mazda CX70 PHEV. Check Signed Deals & Tips for either.
The XC60 is neither here nor there. Eventually it will need the same marketing support that the 90 is getting rn and people who overspent will be weeping when they see the fire sale prices later.
Even if OP doesn’t want a 3-row, since they’re comparable in overall size, wouldn’t the XC-90 make sense vs CX-70 regardless? as they could just put the 3rd row down?
Do like the CX70 quite a bit though. Helped a family member hack one and I was impressed at the interior quality, but I’m taking the XC90 every time for similar price point (or prob better if OP can find a 2024 XC90)
Thanks for the insight. The main reason for the XC60 versus the XC90 is size. This would be my wife’s daily. She has her eye on the Volvo over other brands and is more comfortable in a smaller crossover/SUV. When she drives my 4Runner it feels a little too big for her.
These are the reasons for the 60. I was also going to go in at a higher discount off MSRP (~12%) as a starting point to see if they would entertain the offer. I just saw on Car Gurus that this particular model has been sitting on their lot for 100+ days.
XC90 is not 4Runner. Have her test drive it, it drives like a car. My wife went from Forester->XC90->XC60->XC90 without problem. And we didn’t plan on getting another XC90, but you can’t refuse it at these prices.
Also working on an XC90 for my wife. Gotta say, for the MSRP, this car doesn’t come close to my X5. If you are financing, get an X5 all day vs an XC60/90. If you are leasing, then the 90 is a good deal. The BMW just feels so much more premium for such a similar MSRP.
A lot of great thoughts and conversations going on here. Appreciate the feedback and activity.
To try and bring this back to my original post here are a few points:
we have no kids. Just 2 adults and a dog. The 3 row is not needed for our lifestyle
We did drive an XC90 and the wife felt it was too much vehicle for what she wants/needs
Coming from a RAV4 the XC60 felt much more comfortable for her to drive, park, and live with as a daily. In the Bay Area we have LOTS of terrible drivers and tight parking lots.
We looked at BMW as well but she likes the Volvo.
Understanding that XC90 deals are much better right now some folks here have said to wait it out but if we decide to move forward does what I originally posted seem like I’m on the right track or am I leaving too much on the table? Again, newbie to the Leasehackr site and philosophy so feedback on my initial topic is greatly appreciated.
