Got an offer from the dealership where we currently lease our 2019 CX-9 Touring w Premium Package to trade it in for a 2022 CX-9 Touring Plus (so slightly higher trim). A few notes:
Our lease ends in September 2022
They are giving us equity for the car
We are currently 3,000 miles over our mileage and could be up to 6,000 miles by the time our lease expires
We are in Philly where the lease taxes are 11%
We have top tier credit
I’m attaching the breakdown from the sales rep. Would appreciate your thoughts.
Have you shopped other local dealers? Every time I’ve leased a Mazda, Scott has been the most expensive. Although I do see they’re not charging a markup right now. Other dealers that have a markup would probably remove it if you told them a competitor has a lower price.
Yes, I understood that. What your monthly doesn’t include is your down payment of $4K, which I assume is the positive equity from your current lease. You are actually paying $674/mo.
If you like the CX-9 that much, you may wish to see what brokers here are listing them for to see if your deal is competitive.
I assumed so, too, but I’m too lazy to look. And, of course, it’s not my $.
Edit: I decided to look at one broker. OP, when your quote says, “$0 down,” do you still have to pay drive offs? It looks your deal stinks, actually. Might want to contact this broker:
Actually - we worked w them for our current vehicle (ironically also got it from Scott). Have reached out to them but didn’t get a response. Will try again. Thank you!
Maybe I’m missing it, but how many miles is that quote for? And what extras does the car have? Because the Touring Plus AWD from ALN is $1500 lower sticker. These 2 deals may not be THAT far apart.
My understanding from recent shopping is that the market is a little softer on CX9s compared to other cars. I’d ask to get the bogus wheel package removed and at least $1k or more discount. There are tons of Mazda dealers in PA/NJ/DE.
I couldn’t get any Mazda dealers to work with me back in 2018, which is how I ended up in this stupid Pathfinder. They were almost worse than the Kia dealers.
