I leased two cars before (Subaru Forester and Subaru Legacy), but this time I’m coming from being 6 months unemployed to a new job that will require a better car due to very long commute.
I am thinking about leasing a Mazda CX-50 or CX-90 (tired of Subarus), but could Mazda Financial (or their captive bank) reject my application on the basis I’ve just started a new job and was unemployed before? Credit is 782 (Experian).
They won’t check your employment history specifically, especially with solid credit that includes prior closed/paid on time leases. If they stip you for DTI or proof of income be prepared to show a pay stub or employment letter from the new job.
As others have stated, you should be good to go in terms of credit, qualifying for a lease, etc…you do state that a new car is needed due to a “long commute”, keep in mind most leases start to no longer make financial sense over the 12,000 mile per year mark. A few still do at 15,000 but you’d need to run the numbers to make sure a lease is still tge way to go vs purchasing.
