Hoping I can get some help with filling out the calculator properly. We bought an Id4 about a year ago after ordering the thing a year prior. about 2 months ago, we got T-boned and their insurance totaled the car. We are looking at leasing a new one because there seems to be pretty good deals right now and we can also take advantage of the $7500 credit, which we could not if we purchased due to our income. The dealer where we bought last year sent me a price sheet for a lease, but I dont think I am inputing into the calculator correctly. can anyone help me?
Post a link to your attempt at the calculator.
good idea!
Base MF should be .00182
Your “total savings” likely includes some amount of taxable incentives… at least the $7500 ev credit
Youre also missing the gov fees, which will be roughly 1.5% of msrp in CA
I was able to get the payment to work out using the numbers you provided. I assumed the $699 acq fee is part of the $784, leaving $85 in other taxable fees. I also assumed a 10% discount plus $7500 in incentives to reach selling price.
Here’s my attempt:
The $12,750 in combined savings probably includes $8,000 in incentives and a $4,750 dealer discount. MF is marked up from .00182 to .00222, as shown on the printout.
Thanks for this, so I am thinking the 5000 down payment, is not really a downpayment on the principle, but includes the various fees? I see you have 2800 as a downpayment which is roughly the 5000 on the price sheet minus the fees and the first month lease payment?
And the MF of .00222 is just a money grab I think to offset their discount? my understanding is VW is offering .00182
Leasehacker score of 8. good, bad, neutral?
I’d say 9% to 10% off MSRP at buy rate (.00182) would be stellar. VW Credit is also covering the first month’s payment this month, and depending on your employer, you might qualify for VW Partner which I’ve seen applied as an additional $500 incentive (YMMV).
Thanks everyone…the calculator is making more sense now. Going to try to negotiate the price and/or the MF down a little more.
