Hello! I’ve been educating myself A LOT over the past few weeks while I’ve been shopping around for mid-sized trucks. Long story short, I’ve settled on the new Ford Ranger and I’ve received a first quote from a dealer. I’ll post the quoted numbers and then would love to have a few questions answered before I start pressing for a better dea
2019 Ford Ranger XL
MSRP $30,760 (Invoice $29,827)
Sales Price $28,845 (6.2% off MSRP / only incentive/rebate/deal applied is Ford A&Z Plan)
$2100 due at signing ($1500 down + 1st month + tags, fees etc.)
36/12,000 @ $316/mo. (before OH sales tax)
APR given as 4.05% (0.0016875 Money Factor)
Questions I have:
1 - Is it likely I can get more off the Sales Price even with the Ford A&Z discount? From what I’ve read that price effectively wipes out the dealers holdback so I’m curious if there’s any thing really left to ask for.
2 - With this being a brand new model and demand being high this dealer told me there is practically zero chance of Ford putting out any rebates any time soon. If I can hold off, any one see it being possible rebates DO come out in the first 3-4 months of a new model like this being at dealers??
3 - The APR/money factor is certainly where I think I can make something back. I feel with my credit score I should be able to effectively knock off at least a full point if not more. Is this naive to believe? And how do I go about asking for a better money factor?
4 - On the attached invoice, HB is holdback I think, but what are the FPA and AA numbers? Are either of these figures I can negotiate?
5 - Plugging all these number into the LeaseHackr Calculator I cannot seem to get things to match up. Any insight here to help me decipher what’s going on would be great. Here’s a link to my numbers:
The Ranger is in high demand, I doubt it will lease well anytime soon. There is no need for Ford to put incentives on it. You cannot get a lower MF than the buyrate.
yeah, first new ‘small’ truck in aaaages? there’s no way that’s going to lease well anytime soon. I’d probably be tempted to buy it anyway as you’ll probably barely lose any money on it the way trucks seem to keep their value.
I’m trying to work on a Ranger lease now… it’s not easy. Here’s a current offer for a 4x4 Lariat SuperCrew:
MSRP: $45,590
X-Plan Price: $43,839
Rebates: -$1,000 - BJ Promotional Rebate
-$ 1,750 - Trade-In Assistance Rebate (thinking of doing a trade - haven’t shown it to dealer yet though)
-$500 - Bonus Cash Rebate
Subtotal: $40,589
24 Month Lease
10,500 Miles Per Year
$2K Down Plus 1st Payment = $438.03 Per Month OR $518.40 w/o Trade Assistance Rebate
$4K Down Plus 1st Payment = $353.58 Per Month OR $433.15 w/o Trade Assistance Rebate
$5K Down Plus 1st Payment = $310.95 Per Month OR $390.52 w/o Trade Assistance Rebate
The figures above include 6.75% sales and excise tax, as well as a $645 acq. fee and a $399 dealer fee. For whatever reason, a 36 mo. lease would have slightly higher payments - for example, $4K down plus 1st payment with the Trade Assistance Rebate for 36 months would = $379.41 which is $26 higher. I’d prefer a 36 mo. term.
For 36mo/10k, Edmunds reports a 67% residual, and 3.85% APR. I need to get the figures for a 24 month term.
Anyone received a better Ranger lease quote? I also just received a PCO for $750, that I’m looking to add to the mix, which might help a little. But the trade has to be decent (I have an offer from Vroom now that is pretty good for my vehicle, maybe dealer would match?).
If you are looking for a mid size tuck so why dont you go for Ram 1500 2015 model? its a mid size and price are less then ford ranger, I have been using Ram 1500 for 2 years for a Blocking Driveway Removal, its performance is great and have good mileage also.
