Hi all,
I recently started to shop for a lease on X5 or GLE350.
The Mercedes dealer won’t do any discount on a 2020 GLE 350, they said it’s first year redesign model, quoted me straight MSRP.
The BMW is only offering around 6% off MSRP $71k on a 2019 X5.
I really wonder how do you guys always get to offered a base MF and discount over 10%?
Is there any suggestions when negotiating?
How to make them feel I’m not a newbie and can’t do math at all?
Could it be also the area I’m shopping in just not competitive enough? (I’m in Utah)
Would it be better to searching into Vegas, North Cali for South Cali?
I don’t mind a $200 flight ticket and hours to drive back home.
Any suggestions is much much appreciated!
Thank you all in advance
Start with a search on CarGurus for old inventory. (This can backfire because old inventory sometimes points to a dealer that doesn’t play ball with cheap bastards like us, so find a happy medium)
Find a car that suits your needs and has some time on the books, contact that dealer with an offer you’d take a last minute flight or one hour long cab ride for.
If accepted with minimal to no compromise, Get the offer in writing.
One way to know if a dealer doesn’t play ball is if they still have the prior MY with no lease support available for sale. At least my experience with those dealers has proven to be true.
There is a dealer here in NorCal that just seems they’d rather sit on old inventory rather then selling it. They have a 540i M Sport demo with 3k miles that has been sitting for 380 days and yet they only are willing to offer 12% off. They also have non demo units sitting for 1yr plus as well.
Talked to a sales manager there and he kept saying how at 12% off is a hard loser for them and they can’t go further since that already includes all of the holdbacks, etc.
@Luvtravis your best bet is to work with one of the brokers on here for a solid deal with min effort on your end. I believe there is also a GSM that posts on here from BMW of Idaho Falls perhaps he may provide you with some decent numbers.
I’m also in search for X5, but the dealers doesn’t seem to budge too much. The highest discount I received so far is 9% off. Also the programs for this month are not good at all, I believe the only incentive is $1,250 loyalty other than college grad.
I’m watching two dealers inventory and both of them have the same number of X5s for the last two weeks. I’m sure BMW will bring in additional incentives next month if they can’t move those units.
Thank you guys for the input.
I was first excited when discovering this form, seeing people sharing great deals.
And then got pretty discouraged when trying to get deals on my own…
I feel dealers are just fishing for sugar daddy and not willing to do math with you.
Question:
Should you first ask for discounted sales price before telling you are leasing?
Does it make a difference?
Do all of your negotiating online but only talk selling price pre incentives. Do your DD on what the RV and MF are for the specific model on Edmunds and know what incentives you qualify for. If you are pushing for 10-11% off msrp discount which is doable, start off slightly higher at 13% work your way down. That has been my experience and has worked out for the most part except with dealers who like to sit on inventory.
I do get base MF and residual% from Edmunds.
But I am just not sure when I should present it to dealer that I know?
After the sales price is comfortable I guess?
Or should it be:
“hey I know MF is 0.00125 and residual is 58%, could you also do 10% off on the MSRP?”
I don’t anticipate any real strong incentives for X5 TBH, Maybe for 50i…
They’re selling well enough that unless the dealer needs the sale for velocity bonus, severely aged or under/over optioned you’ll be hard pressed to do much better than 10-12% on a new unit and 14-16% on a demo/loaner.
I’ve heard from some source that the programs won’t get any better and may get worse than this month (I was asking specifically X5), but I’m really suspicious about that, and no one knows at this point. But also seems like BMW wants to get back to luxury price points.
Now that it’s November, has anyone heard of any good lease deals on the GLE350? The dealership that I bough the last 3 cars from isn’t willing to negotiate at all.
