Hoping for fast advice/assessment of current deal and my proposed counter – 2025 BMW X1 iDrive, 5600 miles
I looked at 2026 X1 idrives at a dealership, and didn’t like their numbers. On the way out the sales agent suggested a demo to possibly fit my payment goals more (I did not say at any point that I wanted to be within a certain range, fyi).
He showed me a nice looking 2025 BMW X1 iDrive, ~5600 miles. Initial terms still weren’t tempting to me, so we left. He texted last week with revised numbers, citing he had the wrong MF in the rate. Same mileage allowance of 10k annually I chatted with him earlier and said I’d text him later. I wonder if I have an opportunity here to be really aggressive – car is still there, end of the month, end of a quarter, etc.
Big things:
-dealership marks up MF; on 2026 models it should have been .0017, they had .0020 and said non-negotiable. MF on this 2025 should be, per leasehackr, 0.00135 and they have 0.00165 (original ‘error’ rate was 0.00195).
-they applied a $1300 mileage penalty to account for the existing miles aka they lowered the RV. 56% RV on $48,765 MSRP should be $27,308, but you can see on sheet it’s $26,008.40 ($1300 difference)
I’ve included a snapshot of my counter, I want to present as I’ll take the car off the lot, you’ll get the lease in your books for the quarter. They only initially discounted 12.03% off MSRP, and I’ve been reading that it should be 17% minimum, up to 20%
My counter models the 20% discount off MSRP, keeping the $1000 rebate, rolling in the acquisition and doc fee, and then having DAS 1stmonth, tax on the rebate, and $135 registration. If everything calcs right, my all in payment is $488.20
Is this too aggressive? Not aggressive enough? It’s a beautiful car and drove well. He confirmed via text that BMW maintenance is included, and both warranty and maintenance started at time of loaner status or 8/6/2025. Warranty good for 4 years from 8/26/2025 or 50,000 miles. Maintenance is 3 years or 36 miles from 8/6/25, so towards end of lease that last maintenance may be out of pocket.
