Need help with two deals on an Acura NSX!

Hey all! I’m hoping to join the NSX crew here soon! I would like some help from my fellow LeaseHackers. I’m working on two deals at the moment.

Car 1: Exposure vehicle with some high miles (~2k). I am told that the car is in immaculate condition. Never titled. Only driven by the dealer chain owner.
Total MSRP (inclusive of accessories: forged carbon fiber wheels, wheel locks, and illuminated door sills): $218500
Sales price: $187780
With Acura Incentive: $157780
Drive off: $2,000 + CA registration = ~$3500
Total per month: $2,000 inclusive of CA tax.
They are throwing in a brand new set of interwoven machined rims as well for track use.

Car 2: Vehicle was in one showing. 58 miles. No test drives.
Total MSRP: $206500
Sales price: $191200
With Acura Incentive: $161200
Drive off: $2,000
Total per month: $2,075 inclusive of CA tax.
They are covering my CA registration.

Car #2 isn’t that big of a discount with an MSRP that high. I would leave that one alone, unless they want to come down another $10,000.

Car #1 is going to be the better deal, but $2,000 a month is still higher than most are paying with a similar MSRP. I leased mine with a 36/5k lease term. The MF was .00180 and the residual was 56%. Are those numbers the same for January?

Thanks for the info! I just put down a deposit on #1 before your response :). The MF is the same but the residual is now 54% in January, so that’s probably the source of the higher payment. That, and inventory is getting scarce!! In the last week I’ve heard of 6 selling.

I’ve contacted about 20 or so dealerships now and the max discount I saw was about 21-22% off MSRP inclusive of the $30k from Acura.

car 2 is no good. Car 1 is great… if all those added extras mean a lot to you. You are in Cali… so I guess your fees are much higher. Sadly I do not think this hybrid car qualifies for incentives yet (like other hybrids/electrics). But if it does… let me know.

If you can get 30-40k off an MSRP that is great. I had a deal initially for 36k off MSRP and was ready to go. But they refused to honor original and backed down to 32k off (bait and switch with %RV???). Anyway, that car sold. hopefully they got what they wanted. I have another dealer who literally just offered 30k off MSRP today. I doubt I will get more from them… but I will call them tomorrow to see. My personal goal is to get back to 34-36k off.

The only thing I do not like about your car 1 deal is the amount of miles. The deal I let go was a 25 mile demo car. This other deal is well under 1000 miles. Best of luck

Thanks for your reply! Yeah car 1 seems good to me.

In your deals, you’re managing 30-40k off MSRP inclusive of the 30k incentive correct? What MSRP/option range are you targeting? My local dealership (Niello Acura) has a red one for 40k off (inclusive of 30k incentive).

no. exclusive. the 30k incentive should be treated as cash you are putting in up front… although most are being taxed on it.

so the deal i turned down was $200,500 - 32,500 = Selling price of $168,000. Then I came with 40,000 (30,000 incentive + 10,000 up front of my personal cash). Then taxes yadda yadda I owed 35 more monthly payments of $1150ish. In the end once you add the 10k I put down I was paying about $1410/mo for the length of the contract (or a total of about $50,000).

I went to them saying I had a goal of $1200 and the dealer said they will get that done for me… My original deal of 36,500 off had me at $1300ish/mo, which I was fine with. But I didn’t want to budget $1410/mo…Also, on top of this car cost about $600/mo to insure in NYC (USAA Insurance). It also didn’t help seeing how they wanted me to make up the $4,000 off their mistake on residual value… but mostly I just didn’t want to go from idea of $1200/mo to 1400.

Although my deal was probably one of the best offered in the country… there is at least one other guy on here saying they got a much better deal at 40k off.

I am disappointed I turned it down… but at the end of the day… I am going for the best deal I can get within my budget and not going for the car. That extra 4k took me out of my thought process of it being a good/great deal. Plus owing 500k in student loans doesn’t help… The GF/future fiance/wife is really hoping I don’t lock down a great deal haha.

Best of luck!

Just curious, where would you drive this car in NYC? I don’t know any boroughs where it would be pleasurable. I think if you closed on this deal, we would see another buyer remorse thread in a month.

My tenure in NYC is hopefully temporary and ending as little as July 2018… to maybe July 2019. At worst I will move to LI or NJ. Living/Working in NYC is becoming crazy. And as a physician, it is nuts. without family ties it makes no damn sense. We are paid way less than those practicing out of state. We get less vacation, and we pay more taxes, higher cost of living etc… And I practice anesthesia… one of the higher salaried physicians. So you can imagine how others may feel.

I moved upstate over 10 years ago, even with family ties in NYC. That was actually a great motivator, lol. My parents still want to stay there, but I think City is best for young people, never found myself bored.

Yet I still don’t get this car choice. Regardless where you move, the traffic is constant, the roads are crap. You can get an awesome practical vehicle for a third of NSX. I don’t believe studying to be a doctor would take you all the way to midlife crisis age.

As I said, it’s not more so the car versus the potential great deal. Especially with idea of better driving area in 6 months. If I found a $200 jeep grand Cherokee deal I’d take that over this in a second because most are gonna run you $380+ here in NYC.

I already got my primary vehicle.

I can’t tell if you are talking about me or arguing why anyone should be driving a supercar period

I am talking to you of course, because you said you are staying in tristate area, which is not supercar friendly.

Oh ok. Well yea I’d love to wait when I leave in however many months… but do you think you’re gonna find any of these 2017s come June? Enjoying this car during winter will be less for anyone in the northeast compared to spring/summer/fall.

These NYC roads do suck. I popped 3 tires within 1.5 years of having my e class. Shout out to Costco tho for virtually free replacements

All roads suck that see snow/salt. We have new roads completely destroyed with potholes if the season is pretty bad. By the time they do repair so you could take your NSX out for a drive, it’s already winter, lol.

I know… lived outside Rochester for a couple years during high school.

I feel as tho if someone gets this for $1400/mo all in and this car gets no major issues, it would be an easy flip. I mean you have people leasing 130k cars for almost the same amount.

I predict all 2017s will be gone by end of February at this rate they are selling.

Several of us have received great deals. Mine had an MSRP of $206,000 and I picked it up for $140,000. I put $3,500 down and my payment is $1,224 a month. With zero down it would have been around $1,330 a month. It was an exposure car, but that’s ok with me. It’s a lease. I’m going to drive the hell out of it and turn it in, along with a check for the mileage.

I was dealing with Mike at Niello for a bit before I found mine. He was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and went out of his way to refer me to other dealerships with exposure cars.
