So I’ve been searching around for a good Audi lease and I’ve finally got an offer that I believe is decent. I am a first time Leaser so all the information and knowledge I have about leasing have pretty much been researched in the past couple weeks. Attached is a copy of the lease that the dealership sent me. It is 8% off the MSRP + another $3500 in customer rebate. I’m not sure what the rebate entails but I know $1000 of it is from Audi Loyalty program. I’m trying to plug in all the numbers in Leesehackr but the #'s aren’t matching up so I’m wondering is the deal is bad or do I just have the wrong numbers.
If anyone could advise, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
**MSRP: $49445
**Selling Price: $45490 (says total selling price is 45490 but total capital cost is 41990)
**Monthly Payment: $437.07
**Cash Due at Signing: $3053.65
**MSD: ???
**Incentives: I don’t see incentives on the lease, only rebate.
**Months:36
**Annual Mileage: 10,000
**MF: unsure but total rate says .00018
**Residual: 51% but there is a residual bump of 3% so 54%?
**Region: New York
**Leasehackr Score:N/A (I believe I’m putting in the numbers wrong which is why I need some help!)
I know you have to pay taxes up front in NY, but keep in mind that if you were to divide that $3000 due at signing over the 36 month lease, you’re looking at an effective monthly of $520.
The MSD is multiple security deposit, which is only offered by certain captives, and allows you to “buy down” your money factor. You get this money back at the end of the lease.
From your calculations, its a 9.2 Leesehackr Score which from what I can tell is pretty good but obviously not the best. Any areas I can look to negotiate to sweeten my lease?
I’d confirm that you’re getting base MF and the residual is correct (Google “2018 Audi A4 MF” and post on the appropriate Edmunds thread) and as @nyclife said, aim for at least $500 more off MSRP. Have you shopped this deal to see if it can be beat?
I should add that NY doesn’t allow MSDs (just putting two and two together now), so you’d only be able to utilize them if you were to lease from an out of state dealership.
This was the exactly word for word which also explains the other $2500 lease bonus that I’m getting.
I’m guessing I can negotiate for a cheaper selling price since every dealership should be able to get me that $3500 in bonuses.
You are correct, every dealership will be able to give you the $3500 + rebate (first month payment also added). So, you’ll want to email 4-5 other dealerships in your region to see who can give you the best selling price while keeping the buy rate MF.
The dealership says its a 54% residual but Edmunds says 53%?
I read that Audi Care was definitely worth the investment so I asked for a revised lease with Audi Care. From what I’ve been reading, usually leaving a deposit is a bad idea? It’s a specific color car that only one dealership within 150 miles has in my exact specifications (premium plus, black optics, nav package). Should I leave a $500 deposit if I’m pretty much set on leasing this particular car?
Attached is revised lease with Audi Care. Random disposition fee was added to the terms so I have to talk to him about that in the morning. Did not see that in the original lease terms (without Audi Care)
Isn’t Audi Care just prepaying schedule maintenance? You’ll bring your car in twice, maybe three times. It’s not worth the “investment,” especially since the first maintenance is usually free. If it covers wear and tear items or damage or other things, then yeah, perhaps worth it.
It bumps up the residual by 1% which doesn’t complete offset the price of Audi Care but only raises my monthly payments by 11-12$ per month. There is an Audi dealer about 15 minutes away from my house so I think it pays for itself.
Gotcha. Nice that it gives a residual bump, but that’s still paying $400 for one oil change. Think of it: interval is every 10k miles. Audi covers the first one on every car. Then you have the second one. But by the time the third one is due at 30k, you’ll have probably turned the car in. Just seems like throwing away $400, IMO.
