Need help deciding which vehicle to pursue deal on, XC60 T8, XC60 T5, BMW X3, BMW X5, other

Was originally looking to buy 24’ XC60 T5 Plus loaner (3k miles) for around $40k. Was even considering leasing then started looking at some of the deals. Have test drove a large number of vehicles in the mid sized SUV range, liked the XC60 T5, X3 and X5 the best, haven’t drove a T8 as wasn’t considering a hybrid but seems like if leasing that is the way to go. Also I know the XC90 T8 is getting a lot of discussion on here, we just didn’t love how it looked in person, however if it is that much better a deal than the XC60 than we’d consider it.

Would need 10k-12k miles/yr, would like to keep payment under $500/month with tax. Not sure if that is feasible with any of the above (definitely not the X5 I don’t think). For the T8 we’d want the Ultra.

Appreciate any insight as to which of these vehicles might be the best to focus on given the above, or if there is something else to look into with Audi or MB.

You can take the BMWs out of your equation. Neither will be under $500/month

Yes it’s 100x a better deal than the XC60 or either BMW.

Also not sure why a Volvo has to be a top of the line Ultra when any X3 at the same price range (if even possible) would be barebones.

XC90 T8 Plus is where it’s at right now

Thank you will pull those out. Seems like my proposed budget maybe a little light for any of the options. Would be willing to bump it to around $600/month.

You should be able to find an XC90 Hybrid under $500 a month. Check the Signed! deals section for examples.

@pmulligan Look at @Bostoncarconcierge’s posts on here and well as his Instagram. With Costco, there are some solid Volvo deals going around right now that he can probably help with

I don’t know how the new body style X3’s are leasing yet. I’d still say that $600 would be a bare bones X3 ('25 MY). Also, the X3 is going to seem small as compared to a XC90.

Have you driven these vehicles to see which you like best?

The Audi Q5 PHEV have fantastic deals right now. I just picked one up a couple of weeks ago in MA

From a drive and finish standpoint liked the x5 50e but decided it is likely out of price range. Between the rest liked the XC60 next in terms of size, drive etc.

Thanks will check those out haven’t visited Audi nor test drive yet.

It’s a $1,000+ lease payment

I guess at this point you have to decide what’s most important to you. Getting the vehicle that offers the most value for your dollar or getting the vehicle that you really want for a fair price. At this point it seems like the XC90 is the best value for your dollar (i.e. midsize premium SUV with a higher MSRP vs the XC60). The XC60 is not going to be the same “deal” that the XC90 is right now. But, if the XC60 is really what you want, you’ll probably be happier with it in the long run. What’s more important to you, the “deal” or the getting the car you really want?

For some people on here, a car lease is purely a mathematical equation. Their personal enjoyment is no part of that equation. It’s all dollars and cents. Other’s want the car that they want and are willing to pay for it, as long as it’s a fair deal for that vehicle.

If you really like the X5, it might be worth looking into picking up a CPO. For such popular vehicles they don’t actually hold resale value that well.

I also understand that BMW stopped using a lot of the unreliable plastic parts on the current generation X5 (Inline 6 cyl). Therefore, they’ve been pretty reliable to date.

What should I realistically expect to get off MSRP on 2025 XC60 T8 Ultra? Was reading between 10-12% but not sure how accurate that is. Says car has been on lot for 120+ days. MSRP is $71,125.
