Need Advice on Lease Duration and yearly mileage for a Chevy Bolt

I am considering leasing a Chevy Bolt. In two years I will be spending a year out of the courntry. Is it possible to get a lease for two years? I don’t want to be paying for the car to sit in my garage for a year and also don’t want the hassle of getting someone to assume the lease for the last year.

The other issue is mileage per year. The leases I see are typically for 10 or 12K miles per year. This would be a second car that would likely have less than 3K miles per year. Is getting a lower mileage limit possible? Alternatively, might one get some credit for turning in the car with much fewer miles than the limit number of miles?

Thanks in advance for advice.

What does this have to do with a Chevy Bolt?

Yes, 2-year leases are common. I currently have a 2-year lease on 2 other GM cars. They can cost more than a 3-year lease unless lease (and other) incentives are really high.

I am not aware of leases below 10k/year. Perhaps others on the forum can chime in here.

I believe @chevysalesgirl has stated that the Volt and Bolt cannot be leased for shorter than 36 months.

If you’re in CA too, lease needs to be at least 30 months to qualify for the CVRP rebate.

Begs to question, what is the purpose of this lease if it’s a 2nd car with under 3k miles/yr?

Would you, could you consider a Model 3?

Of course, but the likelihood of availability in my timeframe is zero.

My wife wants a second car and she wants it to be an EV. We have another home and she spends most time there.

And therefore you have removed the Model 3 from consideration. My friendly point to another poster (@rieuk) was that people were not able to cross shop Bolt and Model 3 due to the big difference in availability. Enjoy the EV shopping - it is worth it

I know, I am starting to sound like an investor in the LeaseTrader, but really. Why would you want to lease a car with 200+ miles range (and pay for it) when you need a lot less. Why not take over someone’s lease? like this one - http://www.leasetrader.com/2015_Chevrolet_Spark_EV_273708.xhtml

Used Nissan Leaf, costs between 6 to 10K depending on year and option, sell it when you are done having fun with the car
