Here I’ll start a new topic-music/audio streaming subscriptions, deals etc,
I decided to finally bite and subscribe with SiriusXM after numerous offers sent my way with past vehicles etc. For $4/mo tax included, thought it was a great deal since included is the App listening too. I don’t subscribe to any other “paid” streaming service, except whatever FREE is included through PRIME. Heck I even didn’t subscribe to the new Tesla whatever they cancelled last year…
My only drawback with Satellite radios is whenever you pass under a bridge or anything blocking the signal-it’s annoying but livable for half the price of anything else out there even for a limited timeframe $4/mo
How has your experience been with any streaming and cancelling etc.? Heard about SXM being difficult to cancel in the past, but will see…
I was ok with just local FM stations-my work commute is only 6 miles each way, plus if I am in the car it’s no more than an hour or so…unless I travel to Vegas, but at $4/mo I don’t care what I listen to, not picky-could cancel if I don’t like it, but it’s ok for what it is at that price point. It is my daily driver, hence the subscription.
I rarely drive my other two:
In the Tesla, I use my Prime-Free Music that comes with the regular subscription, it’s ok
In the Mirai I just use the local FM stations
If you really like to stream then the Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify and Prime Music combo will reach most places you want to go. I do find that Spotify and Pandora repeat too much of the content on channels too soon. YouTube Music is now pretty solid with both free (ads) and paid (no ads). Have not used it yet.
Your prices will vary but I guess it depends on your needs.
Not really a “streamer” that’s why I only take the FREE trials whenever I buy an apple device, I bought the Air Pods Pro back in 2020 but don’t use them much, hence I don’t see the value in the subscriptions unless it’s really cheap ($5 or less) don’t mind the ads, after this one ends-just cancel and back to basics again haha
Not hard at all to cancel. Can even do it through their chat feature.
They’ll go through the usual “why are you cancelling” questions, followed by a couple of sales pitches to keep you a subscriber, but just keep politely declining and you’ll get it without a huge fight.
As others have mentioned, the SXM mix can get stale with a lot of constant listening. But same as your deal, for $4-5/mo… whatever, it’s a nice to have if you have a decent commute or drive for work as an extra option too. I don’t mind that price. Definitely wouldn’t pay $15/mo or whatever normal rate is.
Every time my annual comes up, I go through the process to get my rate secured. Used to just call to cancel and wait for the pitch… now I just say upfront I want to have the same plan/price or I’ll cancel and save a few of the back and forth questions.
My Ioniq 5 lease will go back in September-so I may just transfer the subscription to my Toyota Mirai for the rest of the full year, or just cancel beforehand. Normal rate is $25 now
