MSd return Nissan

I called Nissan after turning in my lease to check on my MSD‘s. It was quite alarming when they said that they did not have my MSD‘s that I would have to get it from the dealer, and implied that I was responsible for getting them from the dealer… At one point, she tells me that Dealership where I got it from has the MSD’s, then she says where I turned it in has them.

So after some back-and-forth, the reality is, they do have the MSD’s, that it’s built in to the price of the car for whoever buys it. She said if the dealer buys the car, dealer would write me a check, that if it went to auction, she thought maybe it would come from Nmac.

I dropped my car off at some random dealership out of state when getting my new car. The residuals were so high the dealerships are not buying them.

Anybody got their Nissan MSD back from a recent lease?

Need to look for security deposit clause in the contract. It should clearly state amount. If it does - you should be getting back a check in the mail after a few weeks/months.
Sometimes dealers are being deceiving and just use your money for cap reduction instead of MSDs.
Cap reductions are not refundable upon lease turn-in.

It’s a clear line item on the contract,”refundable security deposit.” And there were 0 cap cost reductions. It was just a higher residual and a big dealer discount.

Then it should be just a matter of time until you get your check assuming the address on file is correct etc.

Wait for a contract say “closed” on NMAC side and give them another call to confirm the check is coming

The check is suppose to come from NMAC. I grounded a lease on 7/20 and the check was in the mail by 7/26. You should call NMAC, they should be able to see everything on your account.

Whoever you talked to should be fired.

MSD were returned quite promptly for an Infiniti lease (essentially the same lessor as NMAC) in late 2021

I grounded a Frontier one pay on 6/15 and received my check on 7/18. The dealer I returned to took nearly two weeks to close the lease out with NMAC - I chalked it up to “typical Nissan shenanigans”, and hope to not lease another one in my lifetime, as their dealer network is probably as bad as it gets.

Appreciate the discussion, will be grounding my onepay soon. Was wondering about msd return.
