Odd comparison, but which vehicle would you prefer to keep for 10+ years? M3 seems more fun to drive while maverick would be more practical (and presumably cheaper to repair/insure). I also realize neither may be great for 10+ years.
correct
Toyota and Honda for longevity
We’ve got two Odyssey’s (one an ‘07 still running strong) - I like the price points/fuel savings of the mav and m3
ford reliability is iffy imo. have 3 new fords and have had issues with each one. Plus maverick is a bit too new to determine reliability especially with the hybrid motor/New eCVT. The Model 3 has a 8 year 100k warranty on the drive unit and battery so I’d lean more towards that.
if for some reason the choices are only limited to those 2, Maverick for utility, comfort, repairability, insurance. The question here is 10+ years what kind of milage are you looking at. if you are looking at average 12k a year, 120k over 10 years, Ford will still be repairable for reasonable amount of money, Model 3 will be at the “throw it away and get another one” stage of its life. The other question is how much time do you want to wait for repairs, if you need your car fixed quickly (relative term but between the 2 cars), chances are Ford will be fixed quicker and with a lot less drama.
@Jrouleau426, I believe the only choice is a
Why not combine value retention & fun with those fuel savings?
Civic Si
out of curiousity, how did you wind up with those 2 cars as the only choices? Seems like a very weird cross-shop
Agreed it’s odd - I used to have a Kia soul ev, wrangler phev and Pacifica phev and enjoyed the EV perks like the quietness and free charging at my work - was never a huge fan of tesla looks but with all the price reductions/credits it has become a contender especially with good residual potential. Separately I’ve long wanted a pickup but didn’t care for the large ones that wouldn’t fit in my garage. Then with the price point/size of maverick I was interested. I had a ford escape for about 15 years and a used ‘89 ford probe (lol) that both ran well so I’ve good luck with fords.
Def and prob worth 50%+ after 10 years too
Do you know when the ‘24 are going into production/ordering?
When you can build them on Toyotas website I can order them
