Is there still any reason to buy vs lease if I only plan to own the car for 3-4 years?
Sure, if the total cost of ownership is significantly less by purchasing vs leasing

Let’s be candid and call this “plan” for what it is.
Even in the most favorable environment to buy out a lease in the history of leasing, tons of people are balking at doing this.
Between doubts over whether any equity will remain in the time required to obtain title in one’s own name… to the hassle of shopping dealers for lowest OTD price when unable to buy directly from the lessor… to people unable to separate this from their next deal … chances are, it’s not happening.
That’s a big if. it’s not something I’m expecting. I don’t keep cars longer than a few years anyway.
