Michigan car concierge's quiet business is now getting calls from around the country

I’ve said it before and I maintain it, the current dealership model is almost universally hated. There’s a reason why Carmax consistently posts double digit sales growth, despite their cars being few thousand dollars more expensive. People value simplicity and the whole theatre of the sales guy going to ‘speak to the manager’ is total nonsense and people will do anything to avoid it.

Good for him. He sells, which is way easier than leasing. Also, his customers probably don’t fully understand intricacies of trading in.

With Michigan’s market seems odd there’s that much demand. As long as you know someone in the auto industry (almost everyone does in Detroit) they can direct you to a dealership who will give employee pricing to pretty much any referral. Interesting story though.

Even with employee pricing, those 3k addons of mandatory paint protection, trunk wire harnesses, extra mandatory safety back third blinking red light, tire protection … all this is a hassle for average person to deal with …
