Metallic tints interference

So my mobile tint guy who has tinted my last 3 cars decided to now charge $185 to tint a sedan vs $100 what he charged in the past. His reasoning: You can’t use metallic tints anymore because they interfere with navigation and satellite radio. So he has to use a more expensive non-metallic tint.

I think he’s BSing because i had both on my last car and didn’t have an issue with normal tints.

Anybody know anything about the interference of metallic tints?

I have heard of that being a problem before, particularly with cell phone reception. Personally, I prefer ceramic tints since they seem to work better at blocking IR anyway, but they do cost more.

Would love to know if anybody had a negative experience putting metallic tint with a tech loaded car.

Metallic film: This type of window tint has a high resistance to UV rays and heat, but it also has a dark, sleek look that gives your car a modern edge. Unfortunately, metallic tint can block cell phone and GPS signals, so it may not be a good choice if you use your phone’s apps often.
