Mercedes is Buying back my car. But there is a scratch on the bumper

Mercedes is buying back my car.

But unfortunately today i got little scratch on front bumper.

Now the question is,

When I was leasing the car, MB Dealer gave me first year wavier of excess wear and tear.

Can that be useful to get waive off for this scratch on bumper.

In worst case how much charge i am looking at here.

Thank you in advance.

Why is Mercedes buying it back? If it’s a lemon, I doubt they would care about a small scratch.

Not so small but take it to them and see what they say.

How does a dealership determine if it’s a lemon? Multiple trips to the shop for repairs?

Every state has different Lemon Laws but essentially, if they can’t fix it after multiple attempts/days in shop/other factors they label it a lemon. Sometimes it’s not so clear and there is a push between the dealer/manufacturer and owner.

It’s not the dealership it’s the manufacturer.

From my experience manufacturers actually tend to be quite picky. Especially MB because they turn around and sell every RAV at auction. When I facilitated RAVs with Land Rover I had an extensive vehicle condition checklist to do (made me note all wear and tear).

Chrysler bought back my parents’ Pacifica and basically treated the condition inspection like a lease return

Put some elbow grease into it

Anybody any idea how much it will cost me… in worst case I just want to make up my mind.

How did it happen

Hit the curb while taking a turn

Hard to believe they will want to screw you on the scratch while buying a lemon after all you went through dealing with this, plus having a wear and tear protection.

My guess is that worst case scenario, that’s a $3-400 charge.

Add black tape/decal to the entire lower front bumper and say it’s for protection and looks. You could do that to the rear too, just to sell it. I doubt they will remove it to check, while you’re returning the car lol

Return it at night and make sure the front is parked in a way that there’s no lighting on it.

if you get charged after all, call and ask for a waiver nicely.

How long did your buyback processes take?

Instead, they’ll charge him for removing the sticker/decal as it wasn’t on the car when purchased.

An actual person who has dealership and captive knowledge already responded to this above…
