Today I was in Mercedes Benz Walnut Creek and try to negotiate with new lease/buy options
In the same time, I have my faberge GLE350 lease and got the offer from 3rd party to buyout it.
When they got this information, they replied:
3rd party cannot buyout MB release, only MB dealers could do.
I have to pay taxes in CA if 3rd party will buyout my current lease. They promised that 10 day exception in CA does not work in the case when 3rd party will buyout my lease.
is it true?
3rd party individuals can not buy out your lease.
3rd party dealers can, and you do not pay tax if a 3rd party dealer buys it out.
The 10 day exception works fine with reselling to 3rd party individuals, but you have to follow all the proper paperwork.

why the dealer told lied to me?
Dealers are often misinformed on the intricacies of tax law and the contract specifics that dont apply to them. This is more likely ignorance than mallace on their part.
I don’t know why Mercedes Benz customer service could not answer this, but does the online quoted lease buyout price include CA Sales Tax?
