Never underestimate people’s stupidity (especially in large numbers). And, yes, those bumpers should make any Earl Scheib rookie cringe. Especially since it’s an easy color to match.
Here is a much better choice for slightly less with all new tech, lower miles and warranty. And to make YOU cringe, lol.
Dude I hear you… I feel like people generally started to accept absolute shit, and service providers are more than happy to shovel shit at people.
Like I got PPF on my wife’s GLS. The guy swore he was the best PPF dude; and I had 3 neighbors raving about how great he was for their Porsches and Jags and stuff.
But when we got our car back, there was some bad chicken skinning on the hood, I found used U40 syringe in the back seat (to remove the air pockets of course), and there was a terrible job along one of the doors where it was obvious someone cut the PPF too close and didn’t have enough to fold over.
He told me chicken skin is totally normal, and nobody can ever PPF without chicken skin on a black car. He said most people have colors/silver/pearl which hides chicken skin. But all black Benz means it’ll never be perfect.
Then he told me there was no way PPF could ever look good on a GLS since the doors are too big. He said I had my expectations too high, and I should find a new shop next time.
Craftsmanship by manufacturers and service providers has undoubtedly gone down at a huge clip across the board in the past 20 to 30 years.
The throwaway culture and being ashamed of having pride in your work have ruined it for so many, but the consumer’s insatiable appetite for cheap goods and services and acceptance of mediocrity is the nail in the coffin.
Fun fact: I came within a couple of grand of trading my CLS 550 for a CLS 63 in the summer of 2021. Porsche dealer near me offered me basically what I paid it for it in 2019 and the delta between the 550 and 63 had shrunk from $30-35K in 2019 to about 20K plus TTL. I passed up mostly because that car had barely any warranty left (mine was a CPO) and I wasn’t all that crazy about the Selenite Magno on that car (EQS wears it better). I was very impressed the way it drove though, big step up from the 550 and surprisingly much easier to drive effortlessly than the 550.
Having said that, the CLS is a dinosaur now and an AMG EQx just smoke it. Who cares whether the torque - yeah, that instant bottomless never ending torque - is coming from the dinosaur juice or from the electrons?
Huh, I actually don’t care for the i7 looks. I think it’s way oversized and overstyled. Yes, I get that it’s intentional, still not growing on me. And AMG EQS blows anything mentioned here outta this world (assuming the i7 isn’t an m70).
