Well, there’s a price to pay for being able to humiliate the exotics at a red light.
Or you can get a Tesla Cybertruck and humiliate yourself every time you get into your truck.
I’mma guess it’s a 50/50 if Z0lt3c landfills this comment.
Elon’s status as the richest man in the world would be in jeopardy as I would need to be compensated quite well to drive that thing.
None:
2021 - no issues, sold at 8000 miles in early 2022.
2022 - had a CEL 1000 miles in due to bad thermostat, traded in at 2200 miles
2023 - no issues, traded in at 6000 miles
2024 #1 - had the common AMG issue where the engine would rev to 4500 RPM at startup due to engine misfire, traded in at 2000 miles
2024 #2 - no issues, at 6300 miles right now
The reason I traded so often was that three of them were unexpected cars where the buyer backed out last minute and the dealer wanted it sold ASAP, and people on the list wanted to spec their own. Probably helped that the dealer would then get a used G and sell it for over sticker.
Market has softened so I don’t think I’ll be able to do this merry-go-round longer but if I can get a new one every 2 or so years that’ll be ideal.
Interesting! Did you make or lose money on those trades?
Bought for msrp traded in for msrp would be my guess. Dealer gets a low miles G to mark up and sell well over sticker and also complete a new car sale .
If people didn’t want the cars when they were on the floor new (cuz they wanted to customize), why would people pay a premium to get it slightly used from the same showroom?
Maybe the showroom getting the slightly used cars was VIN swapping and sending vehicles into the gray market…
UAE lives their G63’s.
Two things–the dealer here has to sell new at MSRP per corporate but can sell used for market price, thus their motivation to get low mileage, used G’s. Also they can only sell new to in-state residents but used they can sell all over the country.
Selling the 2021 made everything else a wash, but the 2022 I lost about $3k despite selling it for $3k over sticker (due to sales tax–car was OTD $199k and I sold it for $196k with a $193k MSRP). The reason I didn’t trade that one in was that the dealer I bought the 2023 from offered me $175k in trade lol.
The 2023 I lost about $4k, and the first 2024 was at cost.
For the cars I lost money on, it ended up being an effective monthly of about $500 to drive a new G63, so I treated it mentally like a great lease lol.
I keep an eye on all my cars after I trade in and then ask the dealer what happened after they sell. The 2021 sold to an out of state buyer, the 2022 went to auction, and the 2023 and 2024 sold about a month later for about $10k over MSRP apiece.
The upgrade to the 2025 will be painful, with the refreshed 2025 the 2019-2024 market has softened, so in less than a year the 2024 has probably depreciated $15-20k.
Not bad, very not bad! Weird rules re price caps though.
One for the shinebox!
@djrabbi and @IAC_Nick … check out the CARFAX on this 2021 E63. Cleanest V8 imaginable. Chip shortage deleted the headed steering wheel. Undrivable.
Rotting away for four years, yikes! Who would buy $100K+ AMG and not drive it at all? Put him on the same plane as CO TDA gangbangers and send him to that lovely facility in El Salvador for this abuse.
Rotting but he did the annual oil changes haha
Probably his housekeeper did so he could drive the AMG, lol!
Gotta add this to the “i would only if i could thread” lol
Don’t miss out on that E63S Estate in Portland either! 800 miles instead of 500 miles on the one in CO. At least the one in Portland has a heated steering wheel. Although that interior makes it undrivable.
Might get some hate for this but..Id rather take that wagon lol
@IAC_Nick , get the deets about this one. Seems pretty clean.
