Mercedes is wholesaling quite a bit of them per the MB dealer who I turned mine into so it’s anyone’s guess. Mine was in mint condition with 25K miles and the private dealer they wholesaled it to added new tires listed it for $54K and it looks like they already reduced it to $50K (residual was an inflated $69K).
I’d concur with the crowd. I returned my old lease this weekend and got a 2024 AMG EQE for 45% of sticker with about 9k miles on it, which to me felt like an insane deal. Super happy with it, albeit it feels like gambling buying an EQE EV that I expect to be worth just a smidge over $0 within the foreseeable future.
2024+ is outrageously better than my 2022. Just the motorized charge port alone. Can’t say how many times I forgot to close my charging port after driving off, only to have to pull over down the road.
Not to mention, the constant dropping of carplay on my 2022, that is now gone, which is terrific.
Did anyone checked the battery?
Is this necessary after the accident?
Yes. Even though my battery wasn’t affected, they still had to drain the battery and test it before starting any work. Even if one cell is bad, they will total out that car.
I have the 68C recall on my Wrangler 4xe and it failed battery test, they are replacing it. If it was out of warranty, like $9K job installed.
After speaking early this morning to the insurance adjustor sounds like they ( adjustor and the shop) have no clue about testing the battery before any repair work begin. Do you know whom should i talk so they will do the battery check? The adjustor said he will ask the repair shop to do it, but i know they have no ability to it.
Should i ask the shop to send the car to authorized MB service for battery check?
Yes. This is why I took it to a dealer and let them handle it. I assume your shop doesn’t do much EVs. I’d maybe transfer car to a specialize ev body shop
They said they can handle EV repair, but i need to talk to them tomorrow about this. Let’s see. Thanks a lot
Btw. First estimate today from the adjustor was around $25k. Let’s see.
It’s only going to go higher lol
Wait. It’s at a MB certified collision repair center, right?
I did not ask. I did with them repair work for my Lexus car. They did a great job.
What if they do not have a MB certificate?
Yes. Only MB certified shops can order certain parts like rear quarter panels and such. If they are not certified, they can’t get parts or they will have to apply to be one. This is what my dealer told me at least. Could be BS but who knows
The biggest concern is usually with condition liability on lease return. MB certified shops usually have some type of warranty that says they cover any future issues discovered. It’s possible a non-certified shop offers a warranty, but they won’t have the same relationship with MB to make it easy to use at turn-in.
Parts availability, as mentioned, and the use of genuine parts. Make sure you request the quote is written up only using genuine new MB parts.
Access to MB computer systems that maybe necessary to operate during the repair, like draining the battery or reprogramming any sensors. You may need to ship the car to a dealer before and after to get everything right.
Of course, these are all “what-ifs” – but insurance pays the bill either way. The best case is finding a shop certified by both your vehicle manufacturer and the insurance company.
the time has almost come for me to return my Jellybean ![]()
there’s been a few issues:
- phantom braking during self-driving from the camera sensors detecting things that don’t exist
- Mercedes voice assistant sucks, Siri + ChatGPT is better
- Some passengers got motion sickness from riding it, though I think my driving style has adapted and everyone’s ok.
- BIGGEST ISSUE: no way to manually turn on battery preconditioning in very cold weather for fast charging (need to navigate the clunky UI, set some random DCFC point to preheat it; horrible experience)
- the in-car UI genuinely sucks for non-basic functionality
Beyond that though, I really loved the car, size, power seats, steering, luxury, comfort, and thinking of buying a used EQS580 SUV. Most of them are things I can live with. I also test drove the BMW iX, Cadillac Lyriq, and Polestar 3 but really can’t find a comparable car.
I’m seeing ‘23 models at $50-60k, depending on dealer/options.
Anyone want to warn me away from this? should I wait 6-12 months for the 36 month lease returns to REALLY pile in?
if you need tires, let me know - I’ve got runflat all-season Pirellis that I will take off before lease return. In Northern NJ.
Wait till end of year if you can, going to be a bloodbath of eqs on lots.
I spoke to my dealer of possibility of buying my eqs AMG from MBFS at below RV and selling to me. They can’t do anything till it’s turned in this April so let’s see.
OMG.
My shop provides lifetime warranty for their work and they have certificates for Honda and Acura.
I know another certified MB EQ shop but after the repair they did for family member on Hyundai Tucson the trunk doesn’t close properly.
They have the certificate for Hyundai too.
Not sure if i can trust any shop.
IIRC many of the EQS leases were 36 months, and the deals ended in June-ish
I already returned my Nissan Ariya unfortunately timing wise I need something now!
Maybe I get the wife something smaller (which she prefers) that we use to hold it over?
Used Polestar 2 looks like a GREAT deal right now…
Yes I agree but by the time dealers sit on these EQS, end of the year is where they will break to make a deal on anything.
maybe find a lease on SAL for 6-9 months left
lol anyone can be Hyundai certified ![]()

just talk to the dealer directly first and ask who their shops are and go from there. Ask the body shop where car is and say if you aren’t mb certified, need to take it elsewhere. Insurance will pay them storage fees anyways.
