Mercedes Benz EQS Lease Superthread - 1

Since the 13 month lease residuals originated during May to August were massively mis-priced ( as @z0lt3c has pointed out with the latest MMR and how we’ve seen the 13 month resids plummet this month)…

Is it reasonable to expect the 13 month lease turn in folks over the last few months can negotiate their buyout amount down to Adjusted MMR + slight margin at turn-in? So even if the contract says the buy out is $85k, but the Adjusted MMR with some margin is like $60k… are dealers authorized to negotiate the buyouts or does MBFS only allow the turn in unless the buyer pays the contracted buy-out?

I’m thinking maybe MBFS would have already have written down the losses on those old leases by then, and allow a situation to just eat the $25k loss then and there.

My battery as at 13% when I started the charge. How do I precondition for charging? I haven’t been doing anything besides selecting the charging station on the home screen and selecting the corresponding port number.

@djrabbi awww danggggg

We know that this isn’t going to lease well

I need to get more context on this before he gets meme lounged (well he already did), what did he do when his gas tank got near empty?

Has he owned an EV before and can he plug in at home or is he using EA charging?

So MY24 EQS 450 model now has hyperscreen? Interesting to see what their MSRP will be then, as it’s probably one of the few reasons people picked 580 over 450.

Have to say that the braking on the EQS is horrendous and something I hate the most on this car. Hope there’s a software update to improve it on 22/23 models.

My car doesn’t seem to handle the switch from regen to mechanical braking well under panic or emergency braking where it feels like there’s no brakes at all for a moment during the handoff. Easy to plan ahead under normal conditions… not so much under true emergency situations!

Dang, the night package is still only available on the EQS-AMG. The bright chrome window surrounds are so lame…

Edit, ooooo dang they are finally allowing New MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno on EQS. Can’t wait for the first matte-black-drug-dealer trim EQS to show up.

Edit #2: Wow the GLS is going to get the latest capacitive control steering wheel. I feel like a ton of people are going to hate this… real button scroll is so much better.

He doesn’t have a charger in his house so he is like I have to go out of my way to charge at public location.

I warned him on this happening but he is like “I will save money on gas”

Preconditioning is automatically activated when you navigate to the charging station. Before you plug in, you can also pull up the main charging menu and see maximum theoretical charge power, I think it is labeled as charging capacity. This will also show if you are limited by battery temperature or by state of charge.

Navigate to fast charger and it will automatically do it.

Brakes really are such a weak point of the car, considering the weight you think they would have gotten it right. They are just so inconsistent.

It makes you wonder how much of the stuff they’re changing is based on rushed development and supply issues? Some of these things seems like they should have gotten it the first time.
How did they not use a heat pump? 110/220 charging cable standard? 5G cell?

On the other end, hyperscreen for everyone!

Can he use a wall plug? At about 3 mi/hr he’d get 30-40 miles overnight.

Exactly what I was going to say. If he’s using it as a local commuter, L1 charging will do the job… we did that with our Y and our doing that with our Leaf.

lol man is a boomer so trying to explain anything is like talking to a wall. I told him to go target and get groceries once a week and it will charge to 80% within 30min. Super stubborn

I don’t understand what the issue is. Level 2 charging might be expensive to install, but L1 charging should get the job done with short commutes. And he has to buy groceries every now and then right? Which can be done at a EA charger.

Wait till he gets there and they don’t work. He’ll be even happier about the car.

Lmao @Arces you are not helping out case by offering this man to be saved by EA.

The solution is to install an L2 home charger and forget about it. He’ll recoup the money in no time. Unless, of course, he does not drive enough. In which case the correct solution is charge with L1.

If he was going to spend the money to get the L2 home charger installed, he would have already installed it. L1 charger and DC fast charging is the only solution for someone who won’t put up the money for L2.
