I don’t know. I am hearing this too.

That dealers will need to discount less because a tax credit the vehicle doesn’t qualify for has new rules?

No, of course not! I am referring to the $7,500 rebate cut in half

It’s possible that MBFS would reduce how much of the tax credit they decide to pass on, but there isn’t any apparent reason why they would need to do that.

It’s not the corporate, it’s the country. But yeah, I see the point. Especially when they are not moving.

Wrong MF, brother! Wrong MF. Let me try to help with that. Message me.

There definitely are some vehicles that are having their section 30 purchase tax credit reduced to $3750 tomorrow (Jeep 4xes, for example). That doesn’t have anything to do with mercedes though.

Or it might. I don’t really know. We shall see tomorrow.

That would basically require the complete disregard to the legislative process and for certain entities to totally back end congress and start making their own laws.

Either that or some dealership employees are confused by the difference between the ev tax credits that apply to purchases and the ones that apply to leases.

My guess is that MBFS will do similar.

Per Audi Financial (via Omegaautogroup):

  • As of April 18, 2023 and until further notice, PURCHASED Q5 PHEV vehicles DO NOT qualify for the purchase EV tax credit
  • ALL LEASED Q5 PHEV vehicles still qualify for the full $7500 credit (via AFS) for all customers

MB doesn’t have any vehicles that qualified on a purchase anyway

Yeah, then not sure why there would be any reduction in the $7500 credit applied on LEASES. And it makes no sense why dealers would reduce their discount on purchases or leases for a change that doesn’t apply to any of their electric line.

https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/hybrids-evs/electric-cars-plug-in-hybrids-that-qualify-for-tax-credits-a7820795671/

This guidance doesn’t change anything for leases.

It’s an entirely different section of the bill that’s meant for businesses/corporations.

Maybe I’m being overly cynical but I wouldn’t put it past MBFS or any other manufacturer to use the changing of an unrelated law as a smokescreen to reduce the amount of rebate they’re passing through.

If someone knows enough to complain the dealer may be able to put the rest back in.

@gandhia2013 …this is all you.

MBFS can absolutely reduce the credit passed through at any time. MBFS would still get the full $7500.

They could, but with all their competitors not and when we are talking about a product theyre having to do everything they can to get out the door? Im not seeing it happening.
