Asking for an input on a deal! My lease is coming up in 3 weeks and I have a 2018 CLA-250 for $350 a month with $3700 down. I was interested on leasing a GLA250 or C300 for my next car. The cheapest deal i have right now is a A-class loner $402 for 42 months with $3000 down. I’m not very good at negotiating but i’m asking for help on how to word an email or anything i can say to get a better deal. My dealership is Mercedes benz in Tampa.

It is practically impossible for us to tell you what a “good” monthly payment is for your specific lease as lease programs are highly dependent on region, personal qualifications, tax rates, etc.
We always recommend the following method before you ever contact a dealership. If you do all of the work up front, you’ll have a stress free dealer experience and set yourself for success.
- Read Leasing 101 (EDITORIAL | LEASEHACKR) to understand how to calculate a lease payment and the variables. Monthly payment is an output, not an input!!
- Pick a specific vehicle that you want to target
- Gather the current MF, RV and incentives from Edmunds forums for your zip code
- Research the LH marketplace and other deals that have been made recently on your vehicle - what was their pre-incentive discount? How did their lease terms differ?
- Plug your numbers into the LH calculator, and use a pre-incentive discount similar to what you have seen
- Create a target deal, this is what you’re trying to negotiate to. You can try different terms, selling price discount, etc. and see how your monthly payment is affected. It is also possible that different trims of your vehicle may have different MF and RV (i.e. this is very common with GM), so make sure that you look into that. Come up with a set of inputs that give you the output that you want - your desired monthly payment.
With a target price determined, you now have a deal to pursue and compare dealer offers against. More importantly, you have a solid foundation to work from.
This is what I was able to achieve 3 months ago. What you have been offered is pretty bad tbh. Try to figure out your MF to see if they are inflating it (you can check the mf and rv on edmunds).
And that’s with a car whose MSRP is $11k higher than the one in the OP’s quote.
I got my a** handed back to me from a dealer trying to replicate this but with the MSRP being $42000 with a targeted discount of 15%. Any other tips you can offer when speaking to dealers?
Most dealers aren’t going to do your target deal. Your goal is to find the one that will. There’s nothing wrong with getting a no.
3 days, 10 "no"s, 1 “yes” that’s all it took on my latest jorney.
How is this possible when negotiating remotely?
