MB’s 2019 A-Class is finally coming to the US. The initial reviews of the car are all super-encouraging - completely redesigned infotainment system, virtual cockpit, nice clean exterior lines:
None of these outlets have any info on an actual release date though - most of them say late 2018 / early 2019. Any MB dealers/brokers here who have more info on this? Does that mean customers will get to order the car around then, or is that when deliveries are expected to be made? I would seriously consider leasing this car if a late 2018 (Oct-Nov) delivery is a possibility.
The CLA was garbage…I’ll believe the A-class is better when I see it and drive it. Five minutes spent by a Jalopnik writer (or any) doesn’t mean anything.
I did say these are initial reviews, since none of them have actually had time to spend with the car. The 2018 A-class has been getting decent (slightly better) reviews than the CLA.
Anyway, do you have info on the release/delivery dates?
You said the reviews are “super encouraging” which suggests a lot of confirmation bias. You find them encouraging because you want to find them encouraging. Someone evaluating them objectively might conclude these “reviews” (if one can even call them that) are meaningless.
To answer your question, everything you have read (whether factual or speculative) about release dates is virtually guaranteed to be talking about deliveries to dealers and cars being available to the general public (ordered cars are such a small fraction of the US market that no one barely talks about them).
Yes, I do find the reviews encouraging because of the circumstances that surround my car search. This is a car I want because of its size, turning radius, and technology features. While I included my “biased” impressions in my original post, the focus of this post was not to debate how good of a car the A-class is, but to ascertain release and delivery dates. So thank you for finally attempting to answer that.
