Putting down $20,000 and Leasing seems counterproductive to the point of “hacking” a lease.
You chose the wrong car for this.

Oh right, forgot about the rebate being lease only. Then lease and buy out a few months later at the latest interest rate you can find (this is a common hack these days especially with cars that have lease rebates).
This deal comes down to maximizing discount and minimizing interest. Not much else to say about pricing…
I test drove both the GLE450 and X5e a few months ago and I would pick the X5e for the seats alone. The GLE450 seats are total crap, no support, minimal adjustment. X5e can be equipped with the optional multicontour front seats which are really nice.
Gle definitely wins in terms of the looks and infotainment systems.
Honestly no one wants a 4yr old German car with 80k+ miles or a 5yr old one with 100+
Any attempt at selling/trading will reflect this reality and you’ll be lowballed by everyone.
The only way to avoid getting completely destroyed by depreciation is to buy a Toyota, Lexus, etc vehicle.
This doesn’t look like a horrible deal to me on GLE450e. But the vin number check on CarFax indicates that on 8/18/23 it was titled as personal vehicle in Florida, are you sure this car is still available, or that it wasn’t sold and repossessed because financing fell through? I wouldn’t mind paying $900/mo for it for 48 mo., but this deal could not be replicated in MD due to high taxes. Here I would have to come up with $2082 tax , provided I could get a trade allowance of $35,000 on my current GLC300 (35,000 is CarMax offer I received and I wouldn’t trade my car for less than that).
As I mentioned on a thread I have started, I was looking for MB’s hundreds of miles away and one of the dealers I spoke with in Tennessee called to let me know that this was futile, since they are restricted by MB how they can market these cars, and that car must be registered within certain radius from the dealership. Is this true?
P.S. In my mind I have already decided to keep my car and wait until incentives roll on MBs between now and January, 2025. But, of course, I keep checking my options so I don’t miss on any good opportunity.
No it was a deal they were giving me before I got my GLE63. It was maybe early August
Have you considered leasing an EV with a free charging* (EQE, EQS or E-Tron)? Calculate gas costs with premium near $6/gallon and huge depreciation hit vs mileage penalty on a lease? MBZ charges $.25 per mile. Also consider that you’ll be out of warranty in under 3 years on a vehicle not known for reliability but known for being costly to fix.
*If you live in SFV or LA (based on your shopping at Keyes on Van Nuys), don’t expect much luck with free charging in the foreseeable future. EA stations are overwhelmed and are cracking under pressure here. Things seem much better if you head west to Camarillo, Oxnard or Ventura). Not sure about Santa Clarita, South Bay or San Gabriel Valley. Some OC peeps seem to be happy. Lastly, if you have solar and can charge at home, your costs will be much lower than premium gas.
TBH, I haven’t thoroughly read every post, but, OP, I get the sense that you’re sort of missing the forest for the trees and not really understanding what variables go into a lease (and possibly into total cost of ownership).
What are you looking for a car (yes, an HOV sticker, but what else?) and what are your main priorities?
What did you get GLE63 for, if you don’t mind me asking? What was the MF, RV, MSRP and OTD?
I bought a used one.
I got quoted on a GLE53 for 1300 a month. For 1500 a month I got a used 63
I bet it’s fast on the road with V8 turbo engine, is it handling well for the power it has?
Yes. It feels faster than my E63S not as nibble.
Back on topic: I wouldn’t do the deal you were offered. You might as well buy
wait so let me get this staright. the 2024 gle450e qualifies for a ev credit of $7500?
$1500/mo? Of course not. You can get a mortgage to buy a townhome and rent it out at that price point, no equity lost, own extra property at the end of the day. $1500/mo on a car that will loose half the value in 3 years? Not for me.
I Pmed you, please do check when so. Thank you.
I sort of assumed the comment was meant more for the OP (hence the “[b]ack on topic”), esp since you have your own thread on the same subject…
Good for you, have a nice evening ![]()
Great problem to have! They should raise the income limits and MSRP limits.

Topic: How to do a lease on a custom order. Fear is that when the car arrives in December, they will try to sell it to me at MSRP (no discount) and the PHEV bonus will not apply for the vehicle itself (both parts) or due to the cost of the vehicle.
Standard MF
48% residual
$7500 PHEV bonus (only valid if you lease) - I’m not sure this custom build qualifies as it is over $80,000
Current MB programs expire 10/31
Do you have any advice for whether you believe it is best to lease or purchase? Also, since the vehicle is a custom order and not set to be delivered until December, is there anything I should negotiate at the time I put in the order for the vehicle? What is the best way to negotiate this deal?
Please and thanks!
There are no parts sourcing, msrp, or income limits for the $7500 incentive on a lease.
The gle450e does not qualify for any ev credit on a purchase.
You should absolutely negotiate the sales price on the vehicle and any mark ups to mf/add ons.
