Has anybody heard about new policies at Mazda regarding lease extensions? I remember in 2023 I was able to do two 3-month extensions on my CX-5 no questions asked. I called MFS this week to confirm that I had the option to extend my ‘24 CX90 PHEV lease and the experience was quite different. I was asked why I waa looking to extend my lease and was then told that they couldn’t give me an answer now, and that I had to call back in late March (lease matures 5/1). Has anyone else had this experience lately? I’m also wondering if there’s a correct answer when asked why I’m looking for an extension. Any ideas about that would be appreciated.
In 2023 it may have still been MFS owned by Mazda….at some point Toyota FS acquired MFS and still runs it as MFS though certain things could change on the back end.
With that being said I’m sure the new MFS / TFS will grant an extension but it is too early to request. They really don’t grant extensions in the system this far out. As they said just call in the last week of March and I’m sure you’ll be fine. On my personal experience with a TFS lease it was a 6 month extension.
IIRC 2021 was the switch-over year, but to your point OP may have extended a Chase lease. To be pedantic Mazda USA just ended their captive relationship with Chase and switched to TFS dba MFS, before that they used FMC. They date banks like DiCaprio
Thanks for the info/context! The rep definitely said that they usually grant extensions 3 months at a time. My recollection was that I requested an extension a few months ahead of time last time I did it, but I guess I could be wrong.
