Part of my leasing journey, got a CX90 PHEV today from dealership in central Florida. Had to inquire about 7 dealers to get closer to this deal. Was pushing for another $500 off but could not succeed. I had a CX9 that I had to turn it in with 2 month pull ahead. I wanted to avoid another month payment, as we were already over 3K miles.
Monthly payment is: 343.21 $1000 Drive off (I had 0 drive off for about ~390 but paid 1000 upfront to ease up monthly payments).
MSRP: 52300
8.47 MSRP discount
24 months 12K Miles per year.
Was eligible for the following Rebates:
$7500 Lease cash for PHEV (I think)
$500 Loyalty/Customer Cash
$720 Loyalty/Customer Cash
$2500 Lease to Lease
Another lesson with finance guy today. Last time, Toyota finance guy sold me a extended warranty that I did not need and I had to return it. This time, this dealership was trying to sell Wear & Tear for $5 extra and I looked at my numbers and it did not add up and I had to ask further and eventually he tricked us into believing that the difference is only $5, but it was indeed $27 or so. He asked me to pay first month payment on top of my $1000 down which is not what I wanted. Once we figured out, canceled that and just went with the deal. He did offer 50% discount for that but still did not feel its worth and was not happy I was deceived to believe its only $5 extra.
We had 10K miles pr year last time for 3 years. We knew we had lot of business trips during this period and only had one car. We have another car (own) that we could split the miles and we hopefully don’t have to do 12K miles per year this time. It’s funny we had Highlander in 2019-2021 before the CX9 and had 13K miles after 3 years and cashed out 11K that time. So our usage literally tripled in CX9
Exactly. They really made this attractive. After CX9, we were not going for another Mazda honestly, until I saw the possibility of this deal.
I was looking at a hybrid Santa FE to purchase and possibly selling CX9 to carmax for few hundred over my buyout. With 2 months to go, with the hassle of selling, this just made more sense and ended up biting the bullet.
One thing that I am waiting on is their inspection. Since I had 2 months to go, I did not have any pre-inspection and this deal became real and we went there and turned it in. We were hoping to get the inspection done today but they said its third party and we have to wait for a bill for any issues.
Usually on a “lease to lease” they just eat whatever costs it is and slap a certified used sticker on it and throw it right in their lot. I wouldn’t worry about getting any charges or anything. Your lease is essentially terminated from my understanding.
