This sounds like Chicago.
Leasing in Chicago sucks, buy this car with it’s 10% off.
…or consider CX-9, you get more of a car for the same payment due to more favorable programs this month. Of course, if more of a car is not a dealbreaker.
The CX9 has a higher MSRP, hence the payment is going way up.
not true re payment: lower MF bring those 2 pretty much inline (talking about lower trim CX-9 like Touring that has .00001 MF and 70% RV for 24 mos for example)
Oh I thought IL taxes the entire value. Hence a higher MSRP would kill it in sales tax. If it doesn’t tax upfront then yes it would be the same.
It’s a suburb of Chicago, I’m in a different county and city.
Is leasing bad because of fees, taxes, all of the above? Any way to check?
Thanks
That may as well be the case wrt IL taxes.
What I was saying is that higher taxes may not result in higher monthly payments if MF/RV/incentives are significantly better for a higher MSRP vehicle vs lower MSRP.
For example, a $50k JGC can have a comparable monthly payment than the said $33k CX-5 if you throw a lot of incentives at it.
But apples-to-apples, I would agree with you.
cue @max_g with his canned response…
Leasing is in a bad period right now. There are a couple of exceptions but a CX-5 isn’t one of them.
Can I interest you in a Nissan Rogue? It does have a CVT though. There are tons of brokers offering for that.
That 10% is pretty nice for CX-5 btw, that’s why I said buy it.
We’ve already had this discussion
2200 in dealer fees? WTF
Yeah, we did. I was hoping to get a good price but it’s the wifey that’s fixed on a CX-5.
What about Jeep Grand Cherokee…it looks like their 24 month offer is pretty good. Thoughts?
You have a good discount on a car with a reasonable sticker and good brand reputation so finance it.
The payments look artificially better only because the sticker is inflated … precisely to make people think it’s ok to pay so much.
As a 2-row midsize crossover a JGC should have stickers like the competition, starting in the high 30s and topping out fully loaded in the high 40s.
Finance it and look at the finance thread for a CU and use them.
