Mazda CX-5 Lease Quote Check

Hello,

First time lessee and new to leasehackr. I am looking to get into a low mileage lease for a small SUV and am currently zeroing in on a 2023 Mazda CX-5 Select for my desired price range. See below quote I received from a broker. I shopped this quote to another broker and they couldn’t beat it. I am new to leasing so appreciate any insight on this quote, thanks!

2023 Mazda CX-5 Select
MSRP $29,775
$4,000 due at signing (inclusive of all fees, taxes, etc. and first month payment)
$350/mo.
36 months, 10k miles/yr.
No broker fee
800+ credit score

They say a car is only worth what you’re willing to pay. If you say it’s in your price range and it couldn’t be beaten, then what’s stopping you? Personally, if I’m paying $460+ net for almost a base model I would pay an extra $50/$60 a month for a much nicer model… @stellarauto

You can do better. Reach out to @AutoNinjas. They got me a 23’ CX30 for my wife 2 weeks ago. If you are willing to drive/fly/delivery reach out to them. You will get a better deal.

There seem to be some misconceptions around what leasing is and who benefits from leasing.

The people who benefited most from leasing were those who were going to drive brand new BMWs, Mercedes, etc anyway and found leasing as a way to lower their TCO (total cost of ownership).

They could do so because they had the cash to put down MSD, had loyalty from prior ownership, or had corp/fleet from working at a select list of companies, knew about OL codes and had bought CCA membership, etc etc.

Leasing also benefited people who wanted … let’s call them toys for lack of a better word and again had the financial security to easily afford the overlapping monthly payments and insurance coverage on those extra cars. People who could pick up a Camaro V8 on a whim, an extra Mini to toss around, maybe even a Jaguar F-type.

Hard to make the argument that you or anyone else spending $16,000+ over just 3yrs to drive a $29k car is really benefiting here.

Great points. Are you also suggesting that no lease for a car under $30-$40k is really worth it? Just curious because I’m in the middle of looking to either lease or finance. The only reason I’m thinking lease is because in 2-3 years, I’d like to upgrade to a better car.

It’s not so much the MSRP. For a long time Audi leases were atrocious compared to BMW.

For your goals the best bet is to finance a Corolla Cross, HRV, etc.

Well, that’s a great reason to lease too. Obviously, we’re on a site where the goal is to get the best deal. But sometimes paying a little more to “test” out a vehicle is worth it. Especially in this market where in 3 years an electric car might be a very viable option for most of us.

Thanks! I did.

I definitely appreciate the argument and all are good points, though it can be argued the other way of course. Not to mention the variables of personal circumstance, wants and needs. I decided to try a lease forum simply to shop a lease quote. Thanks!

Do you really need a CX-5? Just because Nissan Rogue / Pathfinder are leasing for less than this monthly. A Rogue is like $400 all in, and that’s better than $350 w $4000

Maybe even a CX-9, but I didn’t check the current deals on that.

Open to Nissan, though I don’t love the brand and I haven’t seen those quotes beyond a 2 year term. I also don’t want a CVT.

Ok CVT is a true worry. The old Pre 2020 ones were total shit.

Payments isn’t:
2 yr paying $400 vs 3 Yr paying $350 + $4000. You are missing the target because they moved it too close.(9600 vs 12400 at month 24).

I bought a CX-30 Base for 350/month with $4400 down on a 60. (Not Leased, Bought), that number is pretty bad for a lease on a similar car.

Yup, that makes sense. Definitely why I’m here shopping one of the first quotes I got. All terms equal though I would pay a bit more to be in a car I prefer.

Wow browsing the Non CVT List

There isn’t much in the ‘deal range’ that I can see that doesn’t have a CVT.

Have you checked your work and see if they have Mazda Supplier?
If not, it’s $70 for SCCA and you get Mazda S Plan Pricing included.
