Mazda CX-5 lease offer

Please share your opinion on this lease offer:
2017 Mazda cx-5 touring w/i-activsense
Msrp: $28780
Sale price: $26989
Incentive: $1000
Doc fee: $299
Registration: $400
Acq fee: $595
36mo/12k miles
MF: .00001
Res: 59%
$326/mnth w/all fees and taxes rolled in. Drive off would be first month payment.

I’m better off paying fees up front, correct? (gets mnthly under $300)
Doc fee seems high?

Consider how low the MF is, I don’t think paying fees upfront will make a big difference over 36mo.
Personally, I would just do first month payment.

If you join the SCCA you become eligible for s-plan pricing plus incentives.

Do you think the doc fee is high?

Sorry, I have no idea. Seems alright for me.

Any doc fee above $0 is too high.

I don’t know how popular this car is, but $326/mo for a $28K MSRP car seems like a not so good deal. But if it’s really popular and nobody is dealing, I guess it’s OK.

Thanks. I agree and will negotiate that fee down. Without the fees rolled in, the lease is $261/mnth before tax and $291/mnth w/taxes. I’m not sure if that changes your opinion, but let me know please! I have been reading that Mazda does not have a high markup and also does not tend to come down much on the cap cost.

We just did the Grand Select for $335/mo with Sign & Drive in South Florida for my parents.

I have a passion against doc fees because they are 100% bullshit fees. Oh but we have to pay someone in finance to do the paperwork!! Yeah, it’s called a business expenses. What’s next charging me an electricity fee or a property tax fee? Yes you have to pay someone to do the filing…key word is YOU not me.

Unless it’s mandated by law - and some states it is - just refuse to pay a doc fee. I have yet to have a dealer walk away from a sale because I refused to pay. In states where it is mandated, say you want that amount taken off the sale price or get something of that value in accessories, pre-paid maintenance, etc.

So right now I’m at $316/mnth with taxes and fees rolled into the monthly payment. They offered another $250 off to knock $10 off the monthly payment. If I can negotiate down the fees (which are substantial) I should be able to get the payments down $291/mnth. I plant to trade in as well, so I think that I can get down to $250 or $260. Going in today to see if I can finalize a deal. Love to hear your thoughts first!

For any trade it just get cash in your pocket - do not apply to lease

Pavlon - What is your reasoning there? What’s the difference?

Putting the trade money towards the lease is like putting money down. Which you never do on a lease.
And there is a 99.9% chance you can sell that car privately for more money. But that’s a separate issue.

no money down, no trade-in on a lease:

you admit to being new to leasing; do your own DD or take the advice of the experts on this forum

what state are you in? doc fees vary widely and are mostly optional

good luck

Thanks! Yes, I’ve been researching as much as possible. I realize that Mazda’s don’t lease the best, however I really like this car.

I realize that trading-in is not the best solution, however the headache of selling my car on my own is also something I’m not interested in. It’s an 11 year ford fusion and I did advertise it for sale and didn’t get much interest.

I am in NY. I am figuring no matter where I go to lease the car I will be negotiating the fees.

NY has a maximum of $75 for the doc fee which is reasonable; how they told you 299 is interesting
The madza terms for this lease are very good, low MF and high residual, can’t beat that.
only problem is the minimal discount from msrp
keep pushing…
