Not sure if it’s even possible but it would be great if the only updates under the Marketplace section would be those from the broker/seller. Every time some random person asks a question on a broker thread, it becomes “unread” for the rest of us. The only time I want to see something in the Marketplace is when the seller/broker posts.
This would mean to make the category show unreads only when the OP comments…not sure that’s possible either.
A workaround is to allow users to follow other users (e.g. broker/dealer from your region). You would get a notification whenever your followed users post.
Since we’re discussing the Marketplace…can generically California be removed so it forces folks to choose and differentiate Northern/Southern or both, but not generically CA as default?
The worst of the brokers/dealers are the ones that advertise all of CA, but refuse to work with anyone that doesn’t come to them… It’s like letting Maine dealers advertise for every state down to South Carolina, but then refuse to do business with anyone that doesn’t come to Maine. This creates false advertising, inefficiency navigating the Marketplace, and is bad for everyone involved except the worst offenders artificially driving clicks and frustrating customers. Forcing the CA category advertisers to specify in the title would work too, but titleing requirements come with their own challenges as seen previously.
Sorry if it’s something that’s been rehashed to death previously, but I’ve heard the complaint from numerous folks I’ve referred here, fwiw.
How about blocking all public comments on Marketplace then? Most are silly questions and comments anyway that add no value. Make them DM the OPs and cut back on clutter.
Or give the posters choice to keep it open or closed. The only concern is that some will choose comments to keep getting bumped.
+1 on this. Other than bumping their threads, I don’t think the marketplace OP’s like the spam messages either
