Hi there Hackers.
My first post on this forum.
I’ve been looking to lease a car for sometime now.
In looking at various sites I see that some dealers have large or larger inventories of some models. And at the same time they have been sitting on their lots for quite a while. Is there a reason they will not move those cars quicker with better or good deals?
I would think the name of the game in sales is high turnover, and short hold times.
Some dealers just seem to hold on to cars longer.
Can you enlighten me oh seniors of car leasing?
What is the car you want to lease? Don’t over complicate your life. You may get a better lease deal on X brand 3 days on the lot vs Y brand with 500 days on the lot.
Don’t make your life hard, figure out what you want to lease and if the residuals/MF make sense etc.
In my experience, the dealers who move cars quickly are easier to deal with vs the ones that keep the cars on the lot waiting for a sucker. I’ve encountered cars about to have a birthday and the dealers were still being unreasonable
How do you gauge dealers who move cars quickly from their lots?
Cargurus and other sites will sometimes show the ages of I’m at the dealer I casually look at the build date on the inside driver’s side of the door.
So you think those dealers holding for long periods are just waiting for the big fish, err… suckers to get hooked?
Seems like a lousy businessman’s approach to sales.
If they stay in business I guess it works for them.
Thanks for the insights.
You can try. I always try and make the offer, but in my experience, the dealer sitting on lots of old inventory isn’t trying to make deals and move volume.
