Mandatory Calculator For Brokers on LH

That’s because all the cars are different in their equipments, colors, and etc. I have a $77,250 GLE and $68,545 GLE that is about $150 different in lease payment. Honestly, brokers don’t have time.

I’m pretty sure my info has been sold to a “DO NOT RESPOND” list to most area dealers at this point :frowning:

Can my FF team be added to that list?

Don’t talk about my unanswered inquiries like that

FWIW OP has a point but nobody is having their info sold and the marketplace has long proven that the good sellers stick around and the bad ones go away.

@GAli this has been discussed many times before; your question could have been answered with a search. At this point there’s really no point rehashing the same things over and over again.

I kind of agree with what you are saying but what I think works best if you are a low monthly payment shopper, some brokers simply list specific bangers for the current month. If you are chasing a specific make, model and color then it’s best to simply contact a broker, IMO.

So what we are telling me is that certain brokers here are collecting customer information and hoping to have dealers pay them monies for information on clients whom want deals with no profit margin.

Theres a really simple solution here: if you prefer to do business with brokers that post calculators, only do business with brokers that post calculators.

@max_g whats so offensive about having a discussion on how to benefit both the clients who are spending the money consistently, and the brokers who are getting paid for their service?

@mllcb42, that’s what I do. Doesn’t change the fact that it used to be very cut and dry here. You clicked a topic, had 90% of the information you need boom right in your face, decision made in a few minutes and then you reached out to the broker. This way youre not wasting their time or your time.

Since I sense some very passive aggressive and snarky comments by some here, I ask what is so offensive about having a discussion that cleans up alot of the forum. It used to be clean easy and simple. You go into a brokers thread, the deals are in your face, you decide quick and easy if you want it or not. I never had to bother a broker I made a deal with until it was time to make the deal. Now its so much of “can you get me a x” with a response of “heres my website send your personal details below and Ill get back to you” taking up 95% of threads, and for those who are actually looking to pickup a vehicle you have to spend boatloads of times just to try and get some information that the brokers have anyway. If it was ridiculous, the veteran brokers here wouldn’t be doing it. You guys could suggest some alternate ideas, but claiming that keeping everything secretive and private ain’t it, and is a bit suspicious. And FYI whether you decide to sell my personal information or not doesn’t change the fact that you would have it in your database. You don’t need full name, address, email and phone number to respond to someone on if you can actually get them the vehicle they are asking about.

Alot of panties in a bunch. The point of this thread was to have a discussion on how it can be better for both “sides”, because it definintely used to be.

I was thinking dealers would pay me for my list of people not to sell to :joy:

We already have something similar - Check out @AutoCompanion lease calculator
Put in MSRP, put the % off, add all your eligible incentives and boom you get your calculator - No point in making brokers do your legwork. Especially since rebates, incentives keep changing every month and @AutoCompanion lease calculator is diligently maintained up to date!!!

Forcing people to do something rarely results in the outcome you want. Source: ask the mods of this
site how easy it is to enforce rules.

However, money and more money are great motivators

@IAC and @aronchi take their own time to voluntarily add those calculator links to their posts. My feeling is they do this because they find better conversion rates and channel performance compared to when they half-ass listings. Or in @derekoh1991’s case he often takes the extra time to actually jam specific lease structures into a calculator and posts the friggin picture of the DAS/monthlies.

So to me, it’s a no brainer for the other brokers to follow suit to be competitive. And similarly, potential leasees would benefit to seek out brokers voluntarily creating calculator links.

From your perspective, sure

Not offensive but if you goal is to reduce the noise by NOT searching, rehashing a topic, and leading a soapbox derby - kind of having the opposite effect you intend. :man_shrugging:t2:

What would you do if certain colors, trims, aged inventory all have different discounts? That’s just on one model each of which have 5+ trims. Not to mention many people really do value brokers opinions and I consistently steer people to better deals.

The current market is much different then it was 3-4 years ago and we have had to adjust a lot of things. My business is still down close to 40% from before covid as I focused on volume before. Now with shortages I had to focus on several other factors including expanding into other regions (more variation for your calculators).

We all run our businesses differently for what works best for us. And there plenty of brokers here and elsewhere to choose from should you not like the way they do.

The owners here give us flexibility for structuring things the way we see fit as long as advertising is legit. This forum is tough and anyone not doing so would be revealed pretty fast.

You did not have a 146 post discussion on this topic 75 days ago. That’s a topic about a broker ranting that someone shopped his price. What does that have to do with asking someone for all their personal information before even giving a sniff of an idea of what the “deal” being offered is. This isn’t charity, people are getting paid and people are paying.

“I can get you a 3 series but wont give you an idea of numbers or anything until you send me your personal information and I’ll get back to you when I can”. No point of using LH then. Thats the volume dealership in person tactic.

When I come on here its because I want to pick up a new car without spending alot of time. It works for me and it works for the guy that I am PAYING. There are several brokers on here who are very transparent and post sheets/calcs/something that shows the basic deal. If you have a 3 series with an MSRP that varies by $500 you don’t need to post 50 different links, but showing the deal structure on one tells us if its something we’d be interested or not.

If you’d rather you send all your personal information in that’s great, but there used to be full transparency here. For the bunch of you who are extremely offended and aggressive about deal transparency, its awfully suspicious. I didn’t name anyone, I didn’t single anyone out, and I didn’t come aggresive at anyone. I complemented the brokers who have been here a long time and are very transparent, whether they post links, whether its a screenshot of their deals, or even some who post pictures of the cars. There are alot of quality listings, but they are slowly getting drowned out by the data farming inquiry forms.

If you are that offended, you are suspicious.
