Macan Interior Thoughts

I am currently looking at replacing BMW X5 M50 with a higher trim Macan (GTS or S). Is it me or is the Macan’s interior lacking an upscale feel. Fwiw, I feel the same way about the Audi RS5. These cars are close to 6 figures.

All of the buttons, which now appear to be touch/haptic style, always seemed like 1990 trying to come back when everything else is going to touchscreen/infotainment based. Based on their location, not sure how easy it would be to keep your eyes on the road and hit the correct buttons.

Full leather (esp a 2-tone interior so it has deviated stitching color) makes a big difference in interior feel since it replaces much of the plastic in the dash and door cards with leather. I actually prefer the pre-2022 center console with the regular buttons vs the newer haptic panel which seems like it becomes a smudgy piano black mess. I personally appreciate the regular gauges vs a digital cluster, but I imagine most people will feel it’s old and dated.

Is the x5 to a macan a fair comparison ?? Completely different classes

It should be sporty, not upscale. If you want upscale, Mercedes is your car. If you want upscale in the Macan, go for a two-tone interior and add all the leather options.

Your premise may be true, but good luck getting a fax machine in an X5.

Porsche is not upscale?

Depends what upscale means. Porsche isn’t really about luxury, it’s about performance and being a drivers car.

I think it really depends on how you define upscale. Upscale in the sense that everything is of superior quality, fit, and finish. Upscale in the sense of luxury with nice leathers. Upscale in terms of tech like HUD, big screens, etc.

In general have found it pretty underwhelming that for example you have to pay to get adjustable lumbar or memory seats in all of the Porsche cars.

They obviously don’t have trouble selling cars though.

Yes, I understand that. The Macan is a “daily driver.” As such and at close to 100k, it should have some upscale features/comforts. Maybe I have not seen enough of them but the ones I have been in the interiors do not “feel” like their price tag.
I understand that you are a dealer. How would you build this car?

Here is your upscale/luxury build: PRAR9W57

Sport build just for fun.

Everything is leather, including air vents, full dashboard, seat bottoms with the roof in Alcantara. Also I forgot the change the brake color to black from the standard red.

Edit:

I assume by this you mean luxury because Porsche has cars well over $200k that don’t even have power seats standard, yet they are among the best in quality and performance.

You’re comparing apples to oranges.

And the Macan was never built to be upscale. It is what it is. And these things are completely subjective and come down to personal preference. Not a knock against you if you do or don’t like the interior.

Upscale as defined as and cut pasted from the Oxford online dictionary

adjective: upscale

  1. relatively expensive and designed to appeal to affluent consumers.

The Macan is an upscale, performance daily driver built by a company that does build, exceptional performance cars.
Although for 110K, one would expect more performance than an “s.”

This probably explains it best…thx
