Low miles used during COVID, excess miles leftover

,

So this is more a question of what are folks doing with excess miles.

I’m in a s5sb lease at 15k miles per year as it was my daily driver going to work etc. I am at 28k of 45k mile allowance with only 10 months to go now. I was at 26k miles in March for reference. I am planning to see if I can extend lease by 6 months but curious if other folks with 12k 15k mile leases are sitting on miles after this whole COVID situation?

Any alternatives to using up the miles. One obvious fact is I will look at carvana vroom etc when it gets close to lease end for offers but just wanted to see what others are doing?

Also worth noting I called AFS just to give it a shot and Their recommendation was to take it to a dealer and check if I could swap it for a new lease with lower miles (and probably take a huge negative equity hit LOL)

It’s a shame because I did 15K miles just to be fully fine… I do somewhere between 12-15K to be honest and financially I think it was even fine doing 12K, saving $20-$30 a month and perhaps pay for 1-2K miles at returning it, but at the time I thought about just forgetting fully about it and enjoy it without looking at the odometer for 39 months.

It doesn’t bother a lot me because I’m not even 12 months out of the 39 allowed and I know at some point before the end of next year I’ll start using it much more, I won’t be remotely close 49K at maturity but hopefully the pre owned market looks good at the end of 2022 and I can get some equity out of it… for now I’m just enjoying my 2 mile round trips to the gym and groceries and the 10-20 miles I do on the weekends lol, I could do a little more but my wife’s X3 is on the same boat so I try to even the miles between the two cars.

What I do enjoy is filling the tank every 3 weeks, I was filling it up every 4-5 days pre COVID lol

It’s like renting a car , prepay for the gas and return it half full. At least the gas you can sip out…
