Looking for the best deal with highest incentives - purchase or lease with buyout

,

Hi. My moms car broke down and I am looking to get her an SUV. The used car market is so inflated at the moment so I was thinking that it might be better to buy or lease a new car. She does not have any specified make so I am just looking for an SUV which has the best deals and rebates at the moment. Which car would you recommend looking at for up to $28k - all inclusive price?

I am looking at a 2018 Mazda CX5 for $24k including all fees, can I find a similar deal on a new/slightly used or demo car?

Look at Hyandai Kona , kia sportage or Chevy trailblazer. Think they all are under 25k msrp.
Look both to lease or buyout.

Take a look at broker deals in the “Marketplace”.

And an additional $1,000 off on Trailblazer for Costco members.

Check 2021 Mazda CX-5 base levels with under 30K MSRP. Sport or Touring. Look at the Markeplace for a benchmark.

There is inventory on the CX5s in South and Central Florida. Send a couple inquiries and see if you get anything.

$24K for a used 2018 CX-5 will likely be off warranty from Day 1

Total budget $28k means: You’re looking at around $25,000 plus TTL. Look at cars that have the seating, ingress/exit, visibility and storage advantages of a SUV without necessarily paying the traditional SUV marketing premium.

Kia Soul
Hyundai Kona
Toyota Corolla Cross
Subaru CrossTrek
Nissan Rogue Sport
Etc etc

Apart from the Toyota (which is new for MY2022), you can see if the others offer any value for getting a new but leftover 2021

Doesn’t sound like a great deal. Used cars are more overpriced than new ones and more vulnerable to a market crash. Plus the warranty is over, many of the consumables are close to replacement time, etc etc.

I’m putzing around in a crosstrek right now while waiting for one of my orders to show up. It’s a totally reasonable car.
