Looking for cheapest AWD SUV

I want to lease an AWD vehicle for my college student in Utah. I really don’t care what it is as long as it’s AWD. Package/options don’t really matter as she’s just lucky I’m doing this and it will be a bare bones vehicle. Obviously, I have some ideas on makes/models and know that I’ll be leasing a low end model, but since I can’t just go by an MSRP starting point since the residual value and money factor can make such a difference in the payment, I’m wondering if anyone has any great suggestions of particular models that you’ve seen that are offering great leases right now. I was initially thinking a Subaru and a quick internet search shows Crosstrek 36mo/10K miles/$1000 down at $179 at a dealer near me. Am I too optimistic to try to find an AWD for under $175 with $0 down? I’m in Illinois but could also purchase in Utah. I just need some direction in where to focus my efforts. Won’t qualify for any loyalty offers, excellent credit. Thanks!

maybe use the search function before typing up an essay. Many similar threads

Check out the Marketplace and Shared Deals categories to see what’s possible.

One thing to keep in mind is that winter tires will help your kid brake, AWD won’t.

AWD is good but make sure you get good winter tires.

Look into some Chevys and Buicks, they used to lease great, I got a good deal in 2018 for a Trax, and can definitely get you in that $200/month ballpark range.

As other’s have said, AWD is good at getting you going but true Winter tires would help with going and stopping and handling overall. Some reputable auto magazine did some comparison where FWD with winter tires vs AWD with standard all seasons, and the FWD handled just as well if not better. If you’re willing to switch tires in the Winter that might open up more makes/models for you.

The quick internet searches generally yield some very skewed results because they never list the true drive off fees such as taxes and dealer fees. Use the lease calculator on this site, ask dealer for some real numbers and plug them in, you’ll get a good idea of the true monthly costs.

I did. I saw many posts about specific vehicles. Although some of those may be applicable, they weren’t addressing a bottom dollar goal regardless of make/model. I saw many posts about specific incentive offerings in specific time periods. Thanks for taking the time to respond though.

AWD is overrated. I have a FWD 2018 Trax and I do fine in the snow in Upstate NY. I know my limits and don’t drive when they’re surpassed.

3rd row seats, Audi deals, dead deals…all very applicable for sure. You are obviously missing the point of my post. And I read through the forum and the tips for probably an hour before I even joined.

No I’m not. You are gonna have trouble finding a car for $175 with zero down. Anyways I digress.
