Hi everyone, I’m back for more advice.
This forum has been super helpful. I found a great deal on the 2021 Volvo Xc60.
I spoke to a Volvo dealer, and it is not eligible for an extended Volvo warranty.
Has anyone purchased a 3rd party warranty for a Volvo? What company did you use? Was it worth it, or should I just save the money for repairs?
My former 19 XC60 with 33k just had a $4500 AC repair after the $800 repair didn’t fix it. My sister’s 21 XC60 had an expensive engine repair around year 2 / 25k miles. Not a vehicle to own out of warranty.
Has the original warranty expired? My parents bought third party extended from their local dealership, more coverage for less than Fidelity. Volvo service handled all the claims and didn’t charge the deductible the second AC repair.
Thanks. Yes, it has 80k miles, the original warranty has expired. Do you know what company your parent’s warranty is from? I’m having a heck of a time getting anyone at a Volvo dealership to even talk to me on the phone.
4 year old Volvo with 80K miles? That is the reason you got such a great deal. Volvo won’t offer an extended warranty on it when these warranties are major cash cows for them? Something seems not right here. Do you know the history of the vehicle you purchased? Did you have it inspected by an independent mechanic before purchase?
TBH this isn’t a great place to ask that question or do any research. The % of people here who own used or out-of-factory-warranty Volvos is really low.
Check with Mike Bernardo at Steingold Volvo in Rhode Island. The warranty prices have gone up significantly due to changes last year but he should be able to help guide you. He’s always been helpful when I called/emailed. He also posts on Swedespeed (Volvo owners forum) and you should check out the site too, others may have posted about where to buy warranties for out of warranty cars.
