Hi folks, first thread. Really happy I found this place. I’m a high mileage driver (about 24k/yr). Currently leasing a 540 M Sport. Absolutely love the car but have decided to swap out of it because I’m driving even more than past years and with BMW upping their overage charge to 0.23/mi, I will get killed. So… I’m plotting my next move.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but it looks like the Accord 1.5T is looking like the next move for me right now, owing to the fairly decent driving characteristics, decent lease deals, and a low $0.15/mile overage charge (thanks @nyclife who’s been super helpful so far). I’d like to be <$350 for a 15k/mi 36mo lease. Will also explore 24mo.
What I haven’t considered until now are MSDs. I’ve done this on a previous 328GT loaner lease and it worked out very well. But BMW made more sense for me when their overage charges were lower. Can you guys help me identify those companies who offer both MSDs (so I can get into something nicer than an Accord) AND have reasonable mileage overage fees (<$0.20/mi)?
I’m thinking that the following combination will get me both something fun/fast and within budget-
Loaner
Maximum MSDs
Reasonable mileage overage charge
edit- I’m kind of stuck between the two worlds. I’m willing to stretch the budget if I can get something close to what I have now. Otherwise if it isn’t remotely possible I want to save as much as possible.
Just toying with this, but if MB does MSD… maybe an E43 or C43 is within reach. What do they charge for mileage overage? I suspect with an AMG (albeit a baby AMG with the ‘43) that their mileage overage is higher than non-AMG models, just like with the M’s…
Acura will forgive 50% of the mileage overage up to 7,500 miles. You may be able to get a great deal in the tlx
Also you could extend your lease and use the manufacturer’s pull-ahead.
The accord 2.0t seems like a great car based off reviews but I’m scared how it rides as I currently drive a Lexus LS. I also need a beater car for a long commute.
Probably should mention that you have to lease another Acura to get that waiver. But I actually think it’s somewhat better as when I leased my MDX they were offering 50% forgiveness of first 7500 miles plus extra 1000 miles totally waived above that if the new lease/purchase was through Acura financial.
