I am coming up on the end of a lease for Lincoln Nautilus (2023 model). Loved the car and was looking at 2026 models. Test drove the Hybrid last weekend. Great car, but need input on the lease value and what I can/should ask for.
Here are the numbers:
MSRP: $67,005
Rebate: $4,500
Residual: .55%
Term: 36 months, 15k miles per year, APR: 3.1
Down payment: $2,000
Tax: $467.53
Acquisition Fee: $1,125
Dealer Fee: $914
PAYMENT: $979.42
Thoughts on this deal? Seems steep monthly payment, but would like input from experts here.
Ford/Lincoln products typically lease poorly. A great deal on a Nautilus is still going to have a payment much higher than most of its competitors. If you’re dead set on a Nautilus you’re probably better off purchasing rather than leasing.
The monthly price includes a super high state tax that is baked in from the start. In this case, just the tax is $135/month.
What would be something I can legitimately go back with to try and reduce the monthly? I understand they lease poorly, but just interested in exploring the option.
is there any discount off msrp or are they only applying rebates and calling it a discount? see what others are getting for msrp discount (probably not a lot of data points on a lincoln). do you need 15k miles a year? try a lower mileage to increase the residual.
unfortunately you’re really trying to squeeze blood from a rock here. fords and lincolns are generally bad leases, and there aren’t a lot of crowdsourced datapoints to work a deal in your favor.
Short of the dealer dramatically discounting the car, there’s not much you can do. The problem you’re going to run into is that the residual is 55%, meaning that you are paying for 45% of the MSRP over the 3 years of the lease. Thats essentially where you would be after 3 years if you financed the car. Either buy a Nautilus or lease something else.
As others have alluded to, no amount of realistic dealer discount will make a lease on a nautilus worth it. This is primarily because Lincoln does not run attractive subvented lease programs. If you are dead set on one, purchase it (though this personally wouldn’t be my choice). Otherwise, Check out the marketplace section to get a sense of any competitors that make better lease candidates.
Thanks all for your input. I have learned a lot about leasing the last few days from this forum. I am walking away from the Lincoln lease for sure.
I plan on test driving the Audi Q5 and/or Infinity QX60 for comparison. Any other brand/model you guys would recommend in this group? If no good lease offers come through, I may just purchase the vehicle.
