This guide from Lexus says exposed tire cord is considered excess tire wear on page 9.
This seems to imply that low tire tread depth does not cause lease return charges unless tire cord is exposed. I was hoping to find out what people’s experiences have been recently with Lexus Financial Services lease returns with regard to tire tread depth.
Thanks.
Just get a used set of tires with at lease 1/8th of tread and return it. Alternatively, if you still don’t want to spend yet, wait for the Auto Vin guy and he will give you much clear definition based on experience.
Thanks for the replies. I am between 5/32” and 6/32”. It sounds like that’s fine. Agreed - safety first.
I just wasn’t sure with the guide not having an exact figure whether they would try to charge me based on which side of the bed some employee of theirs woke up on.
Most often I see a 4/32nds requirement. My lat car the inspector even tried finding any spot on the tire with 4/32nds but I was only at 3/32nds. VW was charging $125 per tire installed so I just turned it on. Priced seemed rather fair
