Lexus Dealer asking to wait until 4th Jul weekend

I had couple of offers for ES350 at 12%. Shopped around to see if any other dealers can beat it, one actually said, and I quote, I’l beat the 12% on Jul 4th weekend, if you don’t mind waiting.

First time I’ve ever seen a dealer tell me on 30th of the month to not buy from him today. What gives?

The dealership may be slightly more aggressive then or Toyota gives extra money on certain cars for a holiday, maybe they are doing the same for Lexus.

That’s a strange one! Is it from a salesman or GSM? Either way I doubt only this guy knows of a holiday incentive that no one else knows of.

My guess would be that he can’t beat your deal so he’s BS’ing you to try to make you wait and lose the other deal, at which point he hopes you’ll give him your business. Or maybe he knows he has some floorplan cash or something coming next month.

Ask him for his ‘better deal’ in writing before you take the chance.

The thing to consider is that dealers usually match a deal from another dealership or at best “beat” it by like $100. There is no incentive for them to go much deeper. So don’t expect them do much more than your current deal. Personally I don’t like dealing with dealers who match or beat by $100. Initially that dealer wasn’t being aggressive and some other dealer stepped up. I like to reward the initial dealer who stepped up.

Had a detailed discussion with a GSM at a second dealership. He’s actually asking me to wait until after the holiday weekend. Says historically incentives get enhanced after the weekend (no guarantees) but sometimes the inventory is half sold.
That’s a second dealership that’s not willing to sell me car right now, vs when everyone is asking me to sign right now… weird change.

I think the 2019 inventory after the holiday would be something they want to get rid of as quickly as they can.

I’m in the market for SUV because my highlander lease is about to be returned in August. So, I’m looking into GX and X5 but RXL is at the bottom of my list. But I like Lexus…very reliable cars and if something goes wrong with the car, you will end up driving their awesome loaner.

Its just hard to replace a $375 lease with a $600 lease, budget wise. So, I really need the best deal I can find. That gets me interested in your post.

Probably already hit his quota for the month and didn’t have an incentive to go as deep that day.
