Left over payments

Hello, quick question about my 2 remaining payments on my lease. The dealership agreed to take care of my last 2 payments for my current lease and I’ll be leasing another car from them (haven’t done the deal yet).

Just curious how this will be handled? Will they just close the account and do some stuff on their end? I just don’t want to be screwed. I’m also afraid I’ll do the new lease and they will say they never agreed to it and I’ll be stuck paying.

Which make is it? If the manufacturer is doing it then they will forgive the payments. If the dealer is doing it, they will roll them into your payment

It’s KIA. Well, I told them to pay them and not me.

Well just because you used that doesn’t mean they will do it. Instead of giving you say 2k discount (just an example), they will give 1.5k.

So should I ask the fleet manager if my rebates/incentives will be subtracted by my remaining payments? or will they be totally forgiven?

You need to find out who is providing the money. If it in an official pull ahead from the manufacturer then you are fine. If the dealer is doing it then it will come from the deal.

Thanks for the help. If the dealer does it and subtracts it from (I assume) the incentives/rebates, that will affect my monthly payments right?

If the dealer does it then it is like paying double (new car and payments from old car rolled in).
If you do want the dealer to help with the payments then the best way is to not bring it up. Negotiate with numerous dealer and try to get the best deal (no one is going any lower). Then mention you have the extra payments left and see if the dealer can cover it. They may or may not.

Best way to do it if you’re negotiating in person ^

I already negotiated with various dealers on a deal and now at the end tail of negotiating (IE my remaining monthly payments on my current lease).

EDIT: Well, the fleet manager said his boss will talk to me about my 2 remaining payments in person tomorrow (when I’m suppose to come in and make the deal). Hopefully it goes well because I’m not the best negotiator and I prefer doing things over email so I have time to think and word things carefully. But if they will roll them over then I guess I’ll just pay them.

If you want to talk over email then talk over email. Say you don’t have time tomorrow to go back and forth and you want to see all the numbers now via email.
