I am in a dilemma leasing between XC90 Inscription vs Q7 2.0T P+. Both are equally optioned. XC90 Inscription 4C corner suspension MSRP (70K) and Q7 P+ Driver’s assistance + cold+ warm weather package(65K).
The lease offers I get for both are very similar between 590-595/monthly (6% MI tax included) + only drive offs (fees+ first month payment). 36-39 months/10K miles.
Audi is 39 months.
XC90 -10 MSDs
Audi - No MSDs
They are both great family vehicles. I just wanted to get users opinion on how to move forward.
I am open to any ideas, concerns so I’d appreciate your kind comments.
If both have similar payments and you like both cars just pick the one you like better! There is no info about rebates/disposition fees/discount off msrp. Without that info pick what you like! Hard to judge which deal is better. But a 70k Volvo for under $600 mo with tax is decent with msd. Just need to know amount of “drive offs”
I have a XC90 R design and love it (3rd different Volvo) Looked at the Q7 and felt 2nd row was cramped.
This is def opinion territory, so here are my 2 cents. Q7 2.0 is bit under powered. I get the Volvo also has a 4 banger but it does feel a bit peppier off the line and in mid range with the supercharger. Normally i’d say Audi all day (esp the Q7 3.0) over the Volvo but in this scenario… still Audi I just like them better! But the Volvo inscription line is pretty great. Also 3rd row I think is a little roomier in the Volvo but again Audi also has Latches in all rear spots so kiddos can go anywhere. Not sure about Volvo. Either way, enjoy.
Folks thanks for quick response. Drive offs will be arouns $1200-1400. As far as discounts, I received 10.2 % off MSRP pre-incentives + $5500 rebates for Volvo. I think there maybe still some room for pre-incentive discount but dealers don’t budge for Inscription trim.
Regarding Audi, it is not leasing well as you probably know. I only received 8.5% off MSRP.
About being quicker, I know Volvo probably has a little more kick but Audi is no slouch. And since wife is going to drive, either will be just fine.
I am more interested to know about driving experience like road noise, comfortness. Also maybe Interior usability like multimedia, navigation etc.
Driving dynamics - Volvo all day better engine and with air suspension is great
Multimedia - Audi for simplicity I use the tech in an A4 almost daily and it’s totally fine (Volvo is good with touchscreen but it’s not exactly completely user friendly, still good though)
Road noise - Volvo ( mostly bC that small Audi 4 is going growl a lot and not in a good way)
Comfort - Volvo has better seats in the inscription package. They’re also massaging I think no?
I’d still choose Audi but again the 3.0 only. That said I don’t own either of these. After exhaustive searching for a new 3 row we decided to stick with our 2015 Highlander Hybrid.
8.5 % on the Audi is too low, I saw a few brokers offering 13% in here so check that out if the Audi wins.
I just leased an Q7 Audi 2.0. Here are my thoughts on pros/cons after a few weeks with it
Pros
Quiet and comfortable… I got mine specifically with just 18 inch wheels and 255/60 tires, non run flat. Was hard to find. I guess it doesn’t look as sporty, but man is this car smooth and quiet on road. Even nasty freeway expansion joints are just a faint thump
Yet, it still drives with control and never feels loose or floaty. Its not a sport SUV tho.
Separate, large, knobs and buttons for adjusting temperature (knobs) fan speed (knob) and air location (big buttons). I am always fiddling with the climate control and Audi makes it easy. I believe the XC90 uses the touch screen for these functions, which is inherently harder to do without distraction.
Audi has good of headroom vs XC90 which was tight for me. I’m 6’4"
Cons
Very little storage space up front. Amazingly small center console
Cup holders are tiny, cant hold anything larger than can o’ soda. My Odyssey holds 40oz water bottles.
my wife says that she has to re-pair her phone periodically upon entry, vs the car just automatically pairing.
Styling is bland vs XC90 which is quite sharp looking, but that’s pretty subjective.
Almost every car here in Calif came optioned with 20in run flats. Extra money for louder, harsher ride with shorter tire life. Not my preference, but as I said above, I found one with 18s.
The car is by no means quick with the 2.0T. Its not like driving a prius, but its not a luxurious flow of power at all Engine is unheard when cruising, or lightly accelerating, but you have to put it to work to get up hills and the like. This can be easily remedied with the 6500 dollar v6 option, but my wife was fine with the 2.0 and I’d prefer the money in my pocket. Plus the 2.0 is 200lbs lighter up front, so maybe it handles a little crisper. Who knows, that probably me justifying my skipping the v6. I will say that there are lots of 2.0s on the lots, and at 56K MSRP and 49.5K selling price, it feels like a lot of car for the money, albeit one with a small engine.
I leased a Q7 last year with the runner up being an xc90.
I’ll echo what others have said- if it was a 3.0 q7, it’s a no brainer.
Exterior aesthetics are subjective but i think an inscription (and r design) xc90 is one of the best looking SUVs on the road. The q7 is bland. However, for family haulers, this almost doesn’t matter and should be used as a tiebreaker. Functionality should be considered first.
Audi Q7 second row is the absolute best in class. It’s huge, 3 full latch, 35/30/35 configuration. Xc90 better 3rd row.
Rear cargo storage favors xc90.
Interior quality/tech was easily Q7 for me, and probably the main reason I went with the audi. I just don’t like full touchscreen interface; i don’t think it’s safe for climate controls and such. Q7 fit and finish slightly better as well.
Can’t go wrong with either vehicle, especially if you like Volvo’s all touch screen infotainment system.
While I agree that knobs are easier to use, I got used to touchscreen pretty fast. I don’t often adjust climate while driving. It can be done before starting driving or at stops, also. Most other functions can also be adjusted from the menu on the steering wheel → driver’s display.
Thanks to @Bacons_C.C - Stephen, went ahead and pulled the trigger on Volvo XC90. I couldn’t resist more premium options like nappa leather and remote start!!! on Inscription and better engine than 2.0T Q7. Also, I look forward to experiencing the 4 corner air suspension.
Congrats!!! The Q7 refresh is on the way so there is no reason they should not have given you a much better deal. The 2020 XC90 is already refreshed so you made the right choice. The wife has an XC90 R-Design and its a great vehicle.
