I’m in Florida looking at the PND here and found one I am extremely interested in for an EV.
I am wondering what kind of communication is allowed to happen with the broker who contacts me after I hit the “reserve” button. I realize the deal itself cannot be negotiated further (cool), but here’s my specific situation:
In my state, we are able to get an EV home charger installation credit that takes $1,500 off the MSRP from certain manufacturers. This must be scheduled (with FPL, our energy company) and then we inform the leaser (car brand), which takes the money off the MSRP.
This is definitely not already included in the PND listed on the site.
In theory, if I “reserve” a PND here, am I able to ask the broker who contacts me about stuff such as getting this state EV money off the MSRP, the color of the car I want, etc?
I don’t want to use the PND incorrectly, “reserve” it, learn that this is not possible and then cancel and not be able to do PNDs in the future, you know? And I have no way to contact the person ahead of time.
*FPL Program offer (“Program”) is available for eligible customers that buy or lease a vehicle at a participating location in Florida. Only one offer per household. Customer lease eligibility requirements must be met for the Program offer. Offer begins February 1, 2025 and expires on July 31, 2025. Offer open only to legal U.S. residents who have a valid U.S. driver’s license and reside in Florida. Offer is not transferable. Customer will receive a $1,400 incentive applied towards the vehicle MSRP at time of signing. Customer must provide required documents to show proof eligibility for FPL program. Vehicle leases or purchases outside of the program dates will not be eligible for this offer. Participants must remain FPL electric service and FPL EVolution Home customers in good standing for term of Program. Not redeemable for cash.
I think the “Program” docs are worded in a very odd way. On a quick google search it looks like FPL will either contribute $1400 for a panel upgrade at your home and / or provide you with a home charger.
That’s a far more common program that utilities use than $1400 off MSRP…that I’m not sure we’ve ever seen on here. There are some pretty seasoned EV hackers on here and I would like to think we would see more on this if it were as simple as $1400 off MSRP.
I think maybe a post on NextDoor or an area / subject specific thread on Reddit may be a better place to look or ask. Have you called FPL?
I’ve already researched this. They install everything and charge us $38/month. That’s the entire deal with FPL. The $1,400 is an incentive to purchase the specific vehicle.
