Can I get the state state tax rebates on a lease if I’m willing to drive to Colorado, or do I have to be a resident? I know I wouldn’t on purchasing a vehicle, but wasn’t sure how that would work on a lease.
Short answer, I think, is no.
The criteria is whether or not you are a taxpayer in CO. The state website on EV credit states " If you pay taxes in Colorado, you’re eligible for a state [tax credit of $5,000]…"(https://tax.colorado.gov/sites/tax/files/documents/ITT_Innovative_Motor_Vehicle_Credit_Feb_2024.pdf)
I’m not a tax professional but I believe you pay CO taxes only if you are a resident of the state for some period of time during the year.
