Leasing a new car in State of Pennsylvania and registering It in the state of New York where i actually live

Hello
I leased a brand new 2020 kia stinger in the state of Pennsylvania. I will be registering it in the state of New York where i actually reside in. Also at the time of sale i paid the applicable state sales taxes as well as the doc fee, title, tags registration fees, ETC… since i have paid the dealer the doc fees which included the registration, plates e.t.c that means the dealer has to provide me with the services of registering the vehicle as well as putting tags on it. My temp tags have expired some time ago.

So my question is why haven’t i received my plates and registration in the mail as of yet. Then came the corona virus . I understand that for reasons beyond anyone’s control i have to be patient and just wait it out. I took delivery of this vehicle on 3/2/2020. I have yet to drive it since 3/12/2020 since New York State had a stay at home in place . The state of Pennsylvania also had a stay at home order.

So i called the dealership to find out any info because maybe i could be wrong or am i just getting the run around.
I even got on the New York dmv to see if another vehicle was on my registration account but to no avail There was nothing.
Just my other vehicle i own.

So I’d really appreciate if someone can give me some help. I really thought i did my homework and research before leasing a car out of state.

They get your plates through the NY DMV, which is closed. They outsource this to a private tag agency, this whole process of getting your plates (without a pandemic) takes about 3 weeks. However, since its closed, you won’t be getting them until they reopen. Really nothing the dealer can do.

It is 100% fine to drive on the temp tags!

Right now police don’t care about tags or speeding. I have not seen them pull over anyone in a while.

ehhh. The speeding I’ve seen, especially by local municipalities. I’ve seen many speed traps, they are hurting for revenue.

Thank you very much. I thought so but when almost 60 days were almost up, i got nervous. Perfectly understandable. I will wait it out patiently. No complaints here. Thanks again. Stay safe

Hahaha here is your answer to my question, thanks!

Dispatcher here… all the depts in my area of jersey are not pulling anyone over unless it’s an egregious offense.

Ya know, you’re allowed to drive your car anywhere you want, anytime you please. There is no military curfew in place.

Go out and drive your new car .

Really, Good to know, I’ve had to go to PA a couple times only saw one trooper.

Over here in Westchester, I saw a speed trap on Central Ave in Yonkers. One Cop on overpass with radar and other down below, people are going faster so it’s not that hard to get someone.

Best,
Quentin
