Hello
I leased a brand new 2020 kia stinger in the state of Pennsylvania. I will be registering it in the state of New York where i actually reside in. Also at the time of sale i paid the applicable state sales taxes as well as the doc fee, title, tags registration fees, ETC… since i have paid the dealer the doc fees which included the registration, plates e.t.c that means the dealer has to provide me with the services of registering the vehicle as well as putting tags on it. My temp tags have expired some time ago.
So my question is why haven’t i received my plates and registration in the mail as of yet. Then came the corona virus . I understand that for reasons beyond anyone’s control i have to be patient and just wait it out. I took delivery of this vehicle on 3/2/2020. I have yet to drive it since 3/12/2020 since New York State had a stay at home in place . The state of Pennsylvania also had a stay at home order.
So i called the dealership to find out any info because maybe i could be wrong or am i just getting the run around.
I even got on the New York dmv to see if another vehicle was on my registration account but to no avail There was nothing.
Just my other vehicle i own.
So I’d really appreciate if someone can give me some help. I really thought i did my homework and research before leasing a car out of state.
They get your plates through the NY DMV, which is closed. They outsource this to a private tag agency, this whole process of getting your plates (without a pandemic) takes about 3 weeks. However, since its closed, you won’t be getting them until they reopen. Really nothing the dealer can do.
Thank you very much. I thought so but when almost 60 days were almost up, i got nervous. Perfectly understandable. I will wait it out patiently. No complaints here. Thanks again. Stay safe
Really, Good to know, I’ve had to go to PA a couple times only saw one trooper.
Over here in Westchester, I saw a speed trap on Central Ave in Yonkers. One Cop on overpass with radar and other down below, people are going faster so it’s not that hard to get someone.
