Leasing 2022 MB GLC 300 vs 2023 Audi Q5 - NY

Hello,

I am located in NY. My 2019 BMW X4 M40i lease (I got from nyclife/Quentin) ended last December (Dec 2021) and I have not had a car this whole time since I work from home. But now I find myself needing to go places on the weekends and I end up renting a car more and more and the rental prices are exceeding the price of leasing (spent 700$+ to rent a 2018 Nissan Rogue for a week from Hertz…)

Long story short I have a lot of weekend trips coming up especially next year so Im looking to lease either a 2023 Q5 or a 2022 MB GLC 300. I would love to wait for the 23 GLC 300 but who knows how long that will take.

I sat inside of and test drove both these vehicles this past weekend (as I was renting a KIA Soul…) and find them both to be perfect. Now my question are:

  1. Are there any good MB dealers on here? Im not finding many postings of this car
  2. I see a lot of discounts on 23 Q5s, should I take advantage now or wait until later this fall

I think you are referring to 2022 Q5s. Fall is upon us, so if I were in your shoes I would grab one of those 12% off broker deals asap.

AronchiAuto is showing 10.5% off on the 23 model

And an effective 8%+ interest rate…

Ah nice catch! I didnt realize 23 has higher interest

In this class of vehicle I might even look at an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, given current pricing, which would likely be the closest to your X4 driving experience of the group - and a little less monthly.

When evaluating a good lease deal, you have to look at the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). A double digit discount off MSRP might sound good, but the money factor / interest rate could be high, negating some of that discount.

Ran numbers on both a '22 (some dealers/brokers have them in stock) and a '23 with the same terms. Feel free to share the TCO for both cars.

Take a look at the calculators. You’re welcome.

When I roll everything into the monthy payment the “2023 Q3 45 Premium” comes to $715/mo

Call me crazy but that doesnt sound that bad…I was paying $847/mo for the X4

That sounds high for a Q3.

My mistake i meant to write Q5

2023 Q5 40 Premium 10.5% off: CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR

did they change anything from 22 to 23? for the q5

That’s still a lot to pay for a base Q5.

That is crazy for a base Q5… just because your prior lease was worse doesn’t really change that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if financing the SQ5 comes out to a lower TCO. Or even slightly higher is palatable because it’s a lot more of a car.
